They wont guarantee it.
If you think there is a good chance *someone* can get your money back for you, then you can sell the debt on to an agency. They will give you for example $1500 for a $2000 debt and then its down to them to go collect the money and you walk away with some of your funds back at least.
Not for hostcharge is it ? :)
Hey,
It is a programming project which has not been payed and the company is sending me in circles for the payment. :( What do you mean by "sell the debt on to an agency"?
does anyone have any recommendations on such a company?

Hire a lawyer or consult one if you are unsure. Collection agencies are sometimes more trouble than getting a lawyer.

If you are going to use a collection agency, use one that is local that you can visit and see how they operate. Ask for references, (good advice for most business transactions). Ask about licencing, they should be licenced no matter what state, province they are in. They should be regulated by some sort of government agency. Most likely it will be a % you will get back plus they may charge a flat fee even if they don't get anything back.
Thanks for the input guys.. but just the mention of the words "collection agency" got my clients to pay me.. yaaay!

Find a business in your community that uses collection agencies, and ask for a referral. Try going to your local chamber of commerce (if your area has one; I don't know where you are) and asking for collection agency recommendations. There might be one that's joined; or there might be one that the members or even the chamber itself has used.
Congrats, though, that you don't need to use one in this case!!!

Hey Lesli,
Visiting these places is the problen. I am currently in Rochester, but I am not from around here. So it is a little hard to get around.
So far so good though. :)
Thanks for the input.

Lawyer's can take 3x as much as a collection agency though.
