View Full Version : Monitor Problem
When I switch my computer on, it seems to power up fine except that it will not bring the monitor out of standby mode.
I have replaced the video card with a new one, and have even tried replacing the memory but all with no success. I must be missing something but i don't know what.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try next?

no video could be bad ram, try swapping the ram. YOu dont always get beep codes. Of course it could be a mother board issue.
try that.
:baghead:
I thought he already stated he tried replacing the ram.
So, let me get this straight, you had the same problem with both video cards? If so, has there been any power outages in your area lately? Thirdly, what type of motherboard is it? :)

Have you tried a different monitor? I had one that went bad on me and it looked like it was in Standby mode. After running through all the normal tests (video card, ram, etc.) I found that it was the monitor that was dead.
do you have the infoleds on the back of your pc, thats allways a good way to spot the problem.

Try a PCI Video card as well. Might be your AGP slot if are using it.
