I noticed on ev1servers.net that the Dual Xeons come with a DRAC card. What is a DRAC card and what are the advantages of having one?

hmmm as far as I know it is a Dell Remote Access Card, used to fully control remote control of a server. It has a built in control for password and security.

I may be wrong....it may be something that EV1 came up with too ;)

I have DRAC access on a server I manage at The Planet, and let me tell you it is a blessing. Forget your password? Well, Login, Cycle the power, click console redirection, and you can bring it up into Single User Mode.

It also hooks into different sensors the Dell's have on board, you can monitor CPU temp, and other good stuff.

A choice between straight console redirection, and a DRAC card? I think the DRAC card would win out.

Does the card support only dell systems or will it work in any PCI supporting motherboard?

Only offered to dell systems.

Hence the name: Dell Remote Access Card
