Even though I would definitely choose HHO over WHT, this poll/vote reminds me of the presidential election in Saddam Hussein's Iraq. :D

Steve

HAHA Funny, well I would have picked WHT if the rules were the same as here... now inorder to make HHO the ultimate we need to get traffic here :)

net-trend
04-22-03, 07:10 AM
I don't think we really need TRAFFIC that badly....i kinda like the size and etc right now....not too crowded and enough people to keep the juice flowing...:)

Steve
04-22-03, 07:29 AM
True.. but what would be the most amazing having traffic like WHT without any Scammers :) *dreams about it*

allan

Now, go post the same poll at WHT and see the results ;).

Steve
04-22-03, 09:50 AM

Heh, well... I have a feeling they'd have home field advantage there, as we apparently do here. :D Different beasts really.

:offtopic: You know, we can check who voted...

*readies the big red ban button*

;) :D

I picked WHT. More people, I can spend more time there.

No offense to Chicken. I like this site, it's just there's not enough activity for me to spend a large amount of time here. Hopefully, in the next 6 months - 1 year it will be one I won't be able to leave.

I look forward to being a member that long and being one shortly after it was launched

You're free to leave anytime you like... MUH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

j/k

As I said, they're different beasts really...

I voted for HHO because of the posts I've read here. It's a different beast as Chicken said, but here there is a wealth of knowledge, great discussions and everyone is friendly and helpful. It's refreshing to visit a community like this :)

DarktidesNET
04-24-03, 04:49 AM
Actually... I'm seriously telling you I'd come here more if Quick reply subscribed me to threads...

That's really the only reason I'm so active on WHT. When I reply I'm auto subscribed and know when people reply back.

Here, I do a 'New Post' search once a day and try to find ones I've not replied to....

Chicken
04-24-03, 06:11 AM
Well, sadly I've been told that notification may not work (so autosubscribing might not work as well). I have to look into this. Maybe it is just a few users I don't know. Those who subscribe to threads, do you get notification that a new reply has been posted?

Phrozen
04-24-03, 06:16 AM
I get email notification just fine, unless of course I just use the quick reply box.... Chicken, we realy need to do something about that for us lazy people. ;)

I chose WHT:

1. Im new here (My view can change)
2. WHT really is still an excellent resource (regardless of the recent reduction in quality)
3. They needed some votes.

Ask me again in a month and It may be a different story.

This is a much ********** site and people are helpfull her, but for pure entertainment value of watching people flame each other and some of the wars I go to WHT.

FindSP.com

Well, why not both :)

Hey I got a better question:

FindSPForums.com or HostHideout.com

now try to answer that right :)

OK, here's the deal. If notifications are a-ok, then I'll replace the current quick-reply with a different version (was going to do that anyhow) and see about the subscribe checkbox as well.

Steve
04-24-03, 05:12 PM
HHO is more friendly so if you want friendly in a little community it is HHO, if you want Dirty Scammers in a more big community go to WHT. Simple and sweet is what I like a.k.a HHO :p

Jan
04-24-03, 09:54 PM
I am sure WHT was much like this (HHO) in the early days too. But there are a lot of mods here, so hopefully any "dirty scammers" who join down the track, will be plucked out a lot quicker :fork:

DarktidesNET
04-24-03, 11:26 PM
Chicken: I would be more than happy to mod the Quick Reply hack with checkboxes for my own vBulletin than give you the new hack so people can choose (like WHT)

It would honestly help many keep up with the threads they use it to reply to.

Once I get replie notifications I usually check them out once I get them, so I know I'd definitly show up more often just from that alone.

I'll be removing the current quick reply and exchanging it with this one:
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34597
-and adding this change:
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?postid=253950#post253950
-which is, "users who have the Use Email Notification option ON, to automatically subscribe to threads they reply to" so it will pull the setting from your control panel. If you have it on, it will autosubscribe you, if you have it off, it won't.

Is that good enough or you need a checkbox?

Phrozen
04-26-03, 09:46 AM
I can't speak for him, but it's good enough (actually, even more preferable) for me. Since I have email notification turned on, I would just like to recieve notifcation when I use the quick reply box as well.

DarktidesNET
04-26-03, 11:20 PM
Yeah, that'd be great. I don't need checkbox I just want it to auto subscribe me. I only mentioned checkbox incase some people (no idea why....) don't want to be subscribed towhat they reply to.

Continuing Off Topic:
I'm one of the weirdos who doesn't like it so like I said make it optional. I check the forums quiet a bit and already get enough emails as it is.

suppleSupport
04-27-03, 06:28 AM
Personally I don't mind either one... I subscribe to all the topics anyway. However people who don't want notifications on a particular topic may prefer a checkbox.

It's based on the options you have set in your profile. If you have notifcation turned on, you'll recieve them, if youhave notification turned off, you won't.

I voted for HHO without hesitation. I have been registered at WHT for a year but have not posted there recently (couple weeks), been too busy and it's gotten to be like the Jerry Springer of forums. If that is what you like by all means knock yourself out.

I think with the right mods, and the right support from members that degradation of the WHT forum can be avoided easily enough.

Continuing the OT'ness... if you want it other than described above, you'll have to use the regular reply form. It's coming, just delayed a few days.

Ive had nothing but Java Script errors on webhosttalk and I have told them about it and they just blow me off because they say no one else has complained about it.

I gave up on them, besides I like what I see here on Hosthideout.

Holy thread-resurrection batman.

I just recieved an email saying I was subscribed to the thread and I couldn't figure it out... thanks for the reminder about this place though. I think I kinda forgot about it. :o:

I voted for HostHideout :dchick: and I would have voted for "Holy thread-resurrection batman" -but that wasn't part of the poll. Maybe I should just close the site and redirect it to WHT so everyone could have the best of both worlds.

I say we list the 6 that voted for WHT.
just kidding...
