Well to begin with when I was around 7 years old, I bought 3 cases (approx. 5000 cards per case) of baseball cards. Now I like baseball and all, but don't know squat about baseball cards. When Sammy Sosa became big, I went through all my cards and looked for his rookie cards. Found around 40-50 rookie cards and took them to a shop and had them appraised, now I don't remember the value of any of the cards. What I'm looking for is any sort of a site that would give me the current value of a certain card. Thanks and I appreciate any links, comments, suggestions, or off the like.

You might just try to type in the card into Google and see what pops up. The whole thing is a mystery to me personally (much better to get advice from someone who collects and deals cards obviously), but I'm sure there are 'wholesale' prices and 'dealer' prices and 'end-user' prices, etc. Depends on condition, etc., etc., etc.
I have a very small number of cards, some signed, plus other things like signatures (from people like Presidents I've met, etc. -maybe Carter or Ford, or both, I can't recall now, was a long time ago, and a few entertainers), but I have no clue as to what to do with 'em. If I went into a shop, they'd soon figure out thaty I have the SUCKER sticker on my forehead and was clueless.

I'm the same way. I think they're cool and all just never traded them or anything. 95% of my cards haven't been touched by human hands as far as I know (that's excluding pulling them out of the packaging and putting them in plastic holders..
This is a pretty good site from what I understand. http://www.sportscardforum.com/
When I was a kid we used to buy the cards for the gum. Couldn't care less about the cards. I guess that's why they are so valuable now. We put them on the spokes of our bikes to make a motor sound. Not many cards survived the 60's.

You can always go to a card shop and get yourself a Beckett - Baseball edition.
They also have an online version for their price guide - not free though

I use to collect cards myself (odd coming from a chick, huh? hehe). I started when I was around 3 years old or so. I have about 30,000 cards - if not more (yes I said 30,000). They're worth a couple thousand dollars. I have cards from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. Most of which are in mint or near mint condition -- even from the ones when I was 3. I just about worshiped them. ;)
I have a Joe Montana rookie card. Not sure how much its worth now though. Mint Condition, I might add :)
I collected cards well into my high school years. When I wasn't playing sports or other activities of that nature (singing, performing, computers, etc), I hung out at a card shop that the parts of an old classmate of mine from grade school owned -- they were friends of mine (even though they were my mom's age lol).

I used to collect cards as well. I have mostly basketball and football cards though, not many baseball...
I have a Michael Jordan rookie card... might be worth something. ;)

I collected for 4 years (and still have around 6000 cards); Beckett is what I always used. They seem to be the best card magazine I've seen, but it's been some time now and there might be better.

Heh, yes... my 'motor cards' probably were the best ones I had, but who knows now. And that gum lost it's flavor after ohhhhhhh about 10 seconds.
haha, we used to do that with our baseball cards as well. My huffy sounded like a harley to me :)
I never thought much about collecting those cards until a friend of mine sold some of his for up to $900 each a few years ago. Not many things a kid can invest in that will bring that kind of return.
I have a stack of Garbage Pail Kids cards. I wonder......
