I have a customer who wants to add an addon domain name to his account. He uses ZoneEdit.com for his DNS settings. When he tries to enter the addon, Cpanel says something to the affect: …or have your admin add one of its nameservers ips to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver!

My question is, do we add one of the name server’s ips (I assume zoneedit’s) to our /etc/ips.remotedns or is Cpanel talking about zoneedit adding the entry?

cPanel assumes that your using it's DNS servers for cPanel accounts. So, if your not using that it wants to send the zone information, such as subdomains, to the remote server. To make life simple you can allow cPanel to create the DNS records like any normal account and not give it any zoneedit info. Once the account is created, delete the zones using WHM and go to zoneedit and update the zone to the new server IP. All this does is create an account on your server without any DNS records, since they aren't needed as Zoneedit's nameservers are being used.
