View Full Version : directi experiences?
Hello,
I'm wondering what those who are using directi think about their service these days?
I know, at least according to various forums, that they had a shaky start not too long ago, but how are things looking these now?

I hear they had some bugs with the latest release. Overall I have not heard anything scary

Bugs are always there in softwares, even Microsoft Products, Linux based or any else, but the concern should be the business ploicy and the support you get from them.
As far as my experience Directi has great business policy, and even better support.

DirectI is good enough, even their server downs some times. The supporting service is a bit slow, but they will answer your question. Price is good, you can have reseller account without prepay much money.

Earlier dircti was very good in all aspects but latly their support has gone very weak they reply but after too long wait and yes their software has too many bugs not the usualy amount but a large number of it which at times gets frustrating.

I think still directi is far better than other registrar, as I have told earlier bugs are always there, do you think because of bugs you will stop using MS products or Linux based softwares, cPanel has also got bugs that does not mean it can not be used.
Same for directi, there latest interface has improved a lot, and of course they will always listen to your bug reports and suggestions. This time they even discussed all the small and big things including pricing etc, before implementing the new version.
As far as support is concerned, I think they are no less. Yes it depends on what your problem is and who delt with it. I had a problem that took a whole day for one of the rep there and was unable to solve it, but then the next day I talked to Anand there and my problem was solved that very moment. So may be that other guy must be a new one, and I am sure he will also improve, because of teh great team they have.
Above all this is also to be considered that directi is giving you every thing for free to start. Account creation is free, APIs are free, offcourse to execute an order you have to have money in your account, but that deposit is also soooooo small that any one and every one can become a domain reseller in minutes.
I must say DirectI is the best.

would enom be better than directi
Vinayak

Enom has been old player in this field, but the cost with enom is too high, so I will prefer directi over enom any time. And yes not just because of price, but features and support is also much better, as enom has such a large user base that they hardly get time to solve your problem.

Directi is fine i didnot mean to say that they are not good but earlier their support I feel was much better than now but hopefully they will get better again as for price they are better than other
Funnily enough I was investigating a really tenacious spammer yesterday and the name directi came up.
Take a look:

Spam that's a different issue and need a different thread here we are discussing DirectI performance and related to others.
Anyways
Toolz have you reported thsi spam to DirectI, do you think DirectI was the spammer.
The Answer is no? (I don't think you bothered reporting it to them, and Yes DirectI is shown as Sponsoring Registrar not as spammer)
So Toolz may I ask why you posted a misleading post like this that directi name come up when investigating spam. Why not mention other names associated with that domain.
And yes do you know that every day I get more than 50 spam mails on my yahoo mail, that are coming from mail id created at Yahoo, AOL, MSN, Hotmail etc, so you think these reputed companies are responsible for spam.
Now do you know that any one can send millions of spam using your mail ID without using your account login, in this case do you think you are responsible, should you be punished for some act that you never did.
They also registered an associated domain:
http://www.afilias.info/cgi-bin/whois.cgi?yes_popup_flag=0&whois_query_field=domain+ANTY.INFO
along with the cornerstone of the whole lot:
http://samspade.org/t/lookat?a=chicagomall.biz
the spamming server is usually based in China (I think the site is there too) and the beneficiary party is usually Logo companies like logozine.
This information is amounts to my directi experiences. The name directi crops up a lot.

Offcourse any one can get a domain for whatever purpose they want but the question is how well you or any legitimate user is looked after, by the service provider.
Again I will say that This discussion thread is about performance and experience with directi, not about spam and other related problem.
Have you faced any problem with directi then do post it here.
But before that can you tell all of us here, did you informed directi of what you are telling here, and if you have informed them what responce you got.

Ya they offer API for PHP,ASP & Java, just go through there Knowledge Base. You will find every thing that you may require. Personnaly I do not have much experience about there APIs but if you are a good programmer you may develop your own application to integrate with there system.
Meanwhile you may start with there hosted Store Front solution that i sfree too.
And who knows if you become interested in Whois.Cart 2.2 (http://www.whoiscart.net)
A ready made solution for many.

Hai. I like to start a domain reseller account at direct I.
But I have critical problem where I am getting the problem everywhere.
I don't have a credit card. So I can't pay by paypal / stormpay.
But I can send cheque / DD to their mumbai branch.
Can I still get the money from my customers via online (credit card, PayPal, stormpay.......) in to my reseller account and use it for my domain registration purpose or can I get my extra money received from my visitors ( my commission) via cheque from Direct I ?
Any exper can help me?
