My review about 1 week ago
http://hosthideout.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8620
Hello
I have been around many reseller companies over the last 7 months. Unithosting.net was one of these. For the first Month everything went perfect, hardly any outages. The last 2 month tho has been dreadful. One time in February the server was down almost 3 days "over the weekend" This month the server has suffered over 30 outages, and as I currently right this review, the server has been down for nearly 10 Hours
edit "main site down for 3 days"
After the 3 day outage. We received a massages saying a refund will be made. Nearly 2 months later still no refund

Same problem here...and this is my second week with this company after switching from another one who had similar problems. Not good, not good at all...
Furthermore, I am not able to contact them at all! They have not been on MSN at all in the past three days and the only email address they have is on-server so you know they can't check that since they are down as well...I did a little detective work on the web and here is what I found:
The Los Angeles address they list in a lot of server sites appears to not exist or to be typed in incorrectly. The Los Angeles phone number they provide appears to actually be an Australian phone number and their PayPal account says "Non-US"
I checked, and only server 1 and server 15 are down, both of which are hosted at The Planet. So it appears to be not a total wipe out, so why haven't they contacted their customers telling them what is going on?
Another thing that is weird is that even though their server is down, their SiteUptime report says 0 outages: http://siteuptime.com/prem_statistics.php?Id=10785 while my report says 5 outages: http://siteuptime.com/prem_statistics.php?Id=12729&UserId=5178
I hate to have to switch hosting providers yet again in the same month but I am getting at the end of my rope and losing money and soon maybe clients...
They looked like such a great company to be with even looking at their forums...but maybe I was wrong. At least I didn't purchase one year of hosting...

Hi,
I am strongly considering doing so, but I would not be able to unless everything can be copied over from the host, and I mean EVERYTHING. MySQL databases, files, email accounts, etc. Also, any unfetched mail in those accounts as well...
However, as far as I know, you can't do this as long as the server is down right? The reason I need this is that I am sure some of my clients have stuff they do not have backed up and I would need to do this seamlessly.
If this is possible to do with the server down, which I highly doubt, please let me know and I may consider it...
Thanks!

Yeah,
It is easily possible. You can export your my sql database via phpmyadmin and you can download everything via ftp, then upload it to the new server.

Use the Option "Copy an account from another server with account password" This saves the client allot of trouble

Hopefully he hasn’t got 10GIG worth of files, or this may take some time

I sent them a private message at least once. And have also sent them email. I wouldn't be as upset if they would at least respond and let me know what is going on!

Yeah, I know how to switch the sites over via cPanel, my question was just is this possible to do when the site is down?

Hey Ya'll,
I'm with them too but on SV14 hosting out of he.com in fremont ca. I asked Unithosting before signing with thme where they were located and they claimed Los Angeles...I simply took them at their word.
The only outage that I have had this month came at the hand of a user that was rebooting the server to instal something or other??!@@
I know that they use about 4 data centers>>the planet, HE.com and who else? Is this a planet account issue? UNITHOSTING chime in any time now so that we know what's going on...
B;-)ing,

Good detective work...maybe this means that they are almost done fixing the problem? If you find the new IP address for SV15 let me know...

seems that this may be a data center change from the planet to managed who has a much lowwer price point. Managed was not listed on their previous listing of servers within their network. The previous list shows
theplanet.com
exchange
he.com
gnax.net
vdi.net
Managed is listed as the domain for the ip 66.79.167.209 Can anyone on gnax, vdi or exchange verify service? Is there anyone on a planet server that still has service?
I was getting real nervous till you found that info Manosk, BTW how did you find that for those of use that have inquireing minds?

Also the site at this time is just the basic info the forums and support are not available.

UnitHosting.net was hosted on the same server as AlstraSoft.com
AlstraSoft.com was having CopyRight Issue related E-Friends software. ThePlanet.com had to unplug SV15 to avoid any lawsuit from Tribes.net (E-Friends).
We've emailed you with lengthy explainations. Only SV15 server was affected.

During this time, your clients would have appreciated a quick post via Host-Hideout or WHT, informing them about the problem

Well to illiminate all of it, just go to another host when they come back up if the problem is still consistant

Every host has its problems and many hosts like unithosting work hard at rectifying the situation. I have had problems in the past..luckily, my customers are very loyal and are patient and understand that sh*t happens. good luck unit in fixing things.

Your welcome. It's always good to carry back-ups incase server failures happen. Some hosts, have problems that occur and can't get word out at times. Things do happen, so you should never jump to conclusions :) But once everything is fixed -
