Has having Flash Tutorials proven to be worth it to you/your company? Do your customers use them on a regular basis?

Thanks!

Hi

The tutorials I purchased from Hosting Demos are invaluable - I believe that once pointed in the right direction customers find them handy reference tools and I find it easy to say, follow this tutorial rather than giving labourious instructions.

From what I've seen, they are under $100 for the whole set of them, which makes it pretty damn inexpensive IMHO. One of those, "for that price it can't hurt" things.

Yes, they are worth it. Our customers love them. But beware, that once indexed by google, you'll end up getting hits just on the tutorials (we average about 10 to 15 hits a day). And to my knowledge, not one sale has resulted from those hits. :(

I have found the tutorials to be a wonderful resource for my clients. The tutorials are step by step and it is alot easier for a client to watch and rewind at their own pace. Having a visual tutorial is 100% better than trying to follow written instruction.

AS cyberland stated, the tutorials are indexed by google, which in my opinion is completely benficial. I also have found a site (I have no idea who owns it) who has linked to my tutorials as a resource. Promoting someone elses product seems silly to me, but it is free advertising for me so I can't complain.

As Karen stated, it is free advertising. I look at it like this; the person who has to search the internet for a tutorial most likely is hosted somewhere else. There current host is not providing the resources for them to accomplish what they want to do. And just maybe, they will keep our company in mind when looking for a new hosting provider who provides a better support system. ;)

For those in the market (like myself), could someone post links to the ones they liked? (the author's site, not your copy)
Hosting Demo?
Others?

Well, we didn't want to buy the whole set so we e-mailed around getting a quote for 3 flash tutorials - the cheapest was http://www.onlydemos.com, as Demodemo don't sell individuals.

Uhm ... is it me or is onlydemos a 'modified' version of demodemo tutorials? Exact sounds, similar text ... maybe I'm just seeing things.

They're very worth it. Lots of my customers email me with questions and I point them to the tutorials. They love it.

Thanks for all your input - we've purchased 2 sets of tutorials from demologic at the recommendation of a friend.

Can't wait - it will save SO much typing! :)

I had demos done for my website by www.cheapdemos.com. They offer a tremendous service, and for an unbeatable price!

In short, YES, I'm all for ANYTHING that might cut out a couple tickets a week and demos will help. Make sure to put links to those demos in your helpdesk in the part of it right before someone submits a ticket "have you made sure your question isn't already answered in our <link to FAQs> or <link to the Demos>? If not please submit your ticket now but please check <link to FAQs> and <link to Demos> to be sure your question isn't already answered there."

we have only just added the range of flash tutorials from demodemo.com to our site but have already started pointing customers to them when they need help with control panel or email related issues.

DemoDemo may cost a little more but I find it to be great to have. Many customers have made positive comments regarding those tutorials (non negative yet!) and the demo bar is also something many of our customers have stated they like very much.

I also use DemoDemo.
Pay more get quality. A simple equation in this case.

I can't justify giving money to a bunch of kids who stole Vito's ideas and in a lot of cases his copyrighted text from his site.

I want to use DemoDemo, just one problem, I would also like to remove DemoDemo copyright at the end, do I pay $20 once (since it says one time pay), or will I have to pay $20 for each set I buy. I am looking to purchase a set once my hosting gets going. Anybody agree?

Dustin, you pay the $20 only once, and it applies to all product in your order, as well as all future orders. :)

Would the customer realize that they are off site links though? I'd be rather upset myself if I had someone linking to something I had purchaed for my customers.

Idea to stop people from using yours (except clients) put a link to them in your control panel or your billing system, its not fool-proof but it will stop the majority of the public using them.

For me, here are the facts...

Trouble Tickets Prior to FAQ and KB per week:
30-45 (Mainly ftp, email, their own OS, etc.)
Trouble Tickets after FAQ and KB:
20-25
Trouble Tickets after Demos:
0

I have not had 1 Touble Ticket since I have added over 40 flash tutorials available to customers only via their billing and support panel.

It has been five months and no trouble tickets... :)

**Edit**
I should point out the only trouble tickets I receive are for my adserver which are mainly for information on how to use it since there are no flash tutorials available for it.

So I am a huge believer in the Flash Demos. Although I bought the demos from cheapdemos.com, if I were to buy more demos, it would be from Vito...

Our customers have expressed how much they appreciate our flash tutorials.

In addition, they have cut down on support tickets and support times.

They have proven to an invaluable tool for us.
