I was helping my friend with her reseller account and she bought whoiscart.

Whoiscart claims [at http://www.whoiscart.net]

Register Domains automatically! Effortless and instantaneous, the system will register, transfer, and renew your domains should you configure it to do so using our intuitive registrar interface. You can even import existing domains into the system's database using the administrative interface to allow the cart to manage your entire inventory of domains.

I have no idea how this works? Anyone have any clue? Do I have to register with a third party registrar company?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I know I was being unclear, what I meant was domain registration and how that works with whoiscart

You have to register with another company then configure whois.cart to register domains through the other company.
They have a deal with DirectI I think it is.
Im using whois.cart but dont sell domain names

whoiscart supports more than directi. In fact, they list some of the registrars they support on their site. You'd just need to sign up with one of those registrars to resell domains and just plug in that info into whoiscart.

That was just an example ;)
There is a deal with DirectI though and you get cheaper prices than listed.

I think they support OpenSRS, enom and DirectI

Does WhoISCart also do web hosting automation? They say that they support cPanel but I am unclear on what they support.

So basically WhoISCart is just like ClientExec/ModernBill?

WhoISCart currently supports cpanel and directadmin web hosting automation as well as enom, directi, and opensrs registrar support. With the builtin billing system, hosting automation api's and registrar api's, it provides similar functionality as that of PHPManager, WHMAP or ModernBill. It doesn't have all of the features as some of the other systems yet, but it's still a fairly new system and a lot cheaper than most of the others.

Btw, I don't believe clientexec provides hosting automation yet.

Thanks!

WhoISCart looks very good, the price is VERY attractive. I hope they do not change it for awhile, I'm looking to buy one or two in a few months.

What type of license is it? Domain.com or 111.111.111.111 (IP)

Well, I haven't tried moving my copy to another server yet, but it appears to be licensed by domain and directory path. You can keep track of all of your licenses from their client section of their website and even buy the actual license seperate from the install for a little less if you install the copies yourself. Btw, I think you're allowed to move a licensed copy a limited amount of times if you need to for some reason.

I'm using it and like it ok, a few gripes:

Need to be able to search for customers and domains better, paging through page after page of domains is not fun.

When a CC payment fails it doesn't (seem) to "retry" the charge again the next day or the next, so far I haven't found a way to make it retry.

I'd like a more configurable autosuspend option right now it suspends ON the day it's due and tries to charge 7 days in advance, I don't mind the advance charging, but I'd rather give 7 more days before suspension personally.

Customizing emails and such is a pain in the butt, I don't want whoiscart to send any sort of account information in the reciepts just send the billing info/confirmations let Directadmin send the welcome message.

Now somethings I like about it:

Enom integration is pretty good, you can't renew expired domains but I think this is an API fault by Enom not a Whoiscart fault.

Authorize.net integration is easy.

Directadmin integration is nice too, auto-setup while dangerous IS handy, just have to be sure to review orders QUICKLY after signup on the offchance for fraud.

It's simple, not trying to do everything just billing and customer management, I hate bloated software (Modernbill). And support from saeven is usually very speedy.

whoiscart.net $35 through paypal
And, no you can't get it for free.

You can move the directory the cart is installed to any amount of times you want, however you can't move domains without buying another installation key which cost 12 dollars if you allready own a whois.cart.

It' isn't hackable.

Actually I think the 12 dollars is if you want them to install it. I believe it's 25 dollars for another license key if you change domains.

They support all domains reg. companies I believe its just that you have to get that company to help you start it up. I reg. my domain names with Omnis.com and I was going to get Whois.Cart but they told me they don't know how to set up their reg. form thing on Whois.Cart so I never brought, I stick to php Coin (phpcoin.com) but Whois.Cart seems better.

I don't mean to sound harsh but man if you can't find $35 to register whois.cart not having a CMS is the least of your problems :)

No, MOST places do not offer trail periods for software purchases. SOME do though.

I'd like to second that!

It's not trying to be an all-in-one wonder solution, like certain other systems out there.
It's clean and to the point, no fuss, no cowbells, no fancy women (actually it will get you ladies, or so i've heard), it just works. :D
