I was wondering, which helpdesk do you prefer? I have almost all of them, and what I most liked is eSupport & *********** (deskpro isn't good - my opinion)...
Just vote for the poll :D

PerlDesk for me...

We're using the helpdesk that comes with ModernBill - it works for us :)

We prefer a helpdesk that doesn't give us problems, that doesn't always have a new "release" version where when you install it it screws up your entire program and one that is easy for our customers to use..
We prefer PerlDesk.

I prefer DeskPro. I've been using it since it came out -- even before that (beta tester).
I've used over help desks, but DeskPro stands out to be the best (at least for me and my needs).
Perldesk, its simple, straight forward, and is easy to integrate it with your site design.

I'm an avid Perl Desk fan, as well.

PerlDesk, perldesk, perldesk :D Have been using it for a year now. It has some bugs that need to be ironed out (like you don't get notified when someone re-opens a ticket or if an autoresponder and the helpdesk meet they'll form an endless loop and drive the server insane) but overall it's a good piece of software and well worth the price.
I used *********** for a few days in January... I dunno, I just didn't like it too much. Might be because I didn't give myself enough time to get used to it (?). I heard they code in requested features really quickly though.

I see you all adore PerlDesk, well that good news for John the developer, I'll forword him to this Thread :)

perldesk is the best

Perldesk is probably one of the better options on that list, but I never liked the whole licensing issue where they gave it away then took it back so I've been checking into other options.
I've been tinkering with some less popular ones that integrate into some other scripts so it's more seamless than a standalone product.

PerlDesk... good.
PerlDesk support... not so good.

We use osTicket and it by far beats the others that we have tried. Not only for usability but for features too.

I really like PerlDesk, even though I dont' use it anymore. I just use the simple ticket system inside ClientExec as it suits my needs. I don't get thousands of helpdesk requests a month... so I don't need a elaborate system. PD is really nice though...

I like Perldesk that the one am go to got.
Kayako is the future of integrated solutions... and their helpdesk is wonderful and easily connectable to other software sectors and modules which gets it my vote.

EdgePanel, it seems is, once again, not available for download.

Well, it has been 7 months since I last posted in this thread.
We're no longer using the support desk that comes with ModernBill. Several months ago one of our clients found a serious security flaw that has remained unaddressed by Modernbill.
What are we using? A fantastic open-source helpdesk called Request Tracker (http://www.bestpractical.com/rt/). So far, we have been using it for about 2 months and we really like it.
The only gripes I have:
- The use of sequential ticket numbers (I don’t particularly like our clients knowing our email load)
- It can be a little slow.
It does have a web interface, but only our staff members have access to that. Previously we found that most of our clients were using email regardless of our support system and RT has native support for email handling.

We use and its pretty neat.
Great news, Edge Panel will be available within 2 weeks! We are working on the email piping issue as well as anohter feature request.
I will let everyone know when it will be ready.

Yes, Storhost Inc. acquired Renax Solutions. We are leaving it as is and working on new developments and improvements to existing software.

Anyone ever try one or zero?
Nice helpdesk with ability to link to a forum. You can convert the ticket to a KB that is accessible only by your support team or your clients.

Cerberus is better than all of them IMO.
There is no great one written by PHP that could compare to PerlDesk (same or less price)? I never like CGI script.

Deskpro is way to overpriced, we have 1.1.3 and thats as far as we are going to take it, who on gods green earth would spend $1000 on a helpdesk?

http://cerberusweb.com/ - is the one we use! Extremely cheap, starting at just $49 and has a lot of features. They also issue regular updates.
EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed they've increased their pricing to $99 as the starting price.
It's worth every penny. I wouldn't switch even if competitors were free. ;)
I'm using EXO Helpdesk...
Simple and easy to use, and kinda cool too ..
Clientexec helpdesk... they have email pipping on it which is really nice :)

Great HelpDesk is Support-Logic
It is free like PerlDesk but has alot of great features and very easy.
http://www.support-logic.com/index.php
Updates are in the works for a newer version. Created by a fellow co-worker of mine.
Check it out, you will be happy you did!!
PerlDesk is no longer free from my understanding.

We have a demo of osticket installed and it seems like a pretty nice system.

PerlDesk v1.5.5 I believe is the last free version. If you have it, you can use it, but if not, yer SOL since it can't be distributed. We've installed a demo of a php version of perldesk someone had created also. I believe its called myhelpdesk. It's not quite the same but has the general look and feel.

My apologies...
Thought PerlDesk was still free.
Well then that just makes Support Logic an even better HelpDesk then PerlDesk.
Everyone loves those four magic letters of F R E E !
Free isnt always the best solution though.
Free is used as a hook to get you in. Look at Red Hat. Hundreds of thousands of users and then the announcement that 9 was their last free version besides Fudora.
Free doesnt pay the bills in an office, it doesnt pay for the bandwidth, the developer working 15 hours per day.
Everybody wants something free when it is in their best interests.
I wonder what would happen if we took some of the hosts out here and suddenly made their business offerings FREE.

When machines run the world, people won't have to work and everything can be free because the machines will just make more of whatever we want (if they don't kill us first) and money will be worthless. ;)

Isnt it funny though that people want me to give Edge Panel away for free, yet they will offer it to their clients as a value added service and use that to gain sales. Thus producing a profit for themselves, yet not one for me.
Hmmmm, kind of funny how that works.

Fortunately, I had a credit card with a really high limit and bought into quality (and debt, heh) when I started. It paid off. I would happily pay; your helpdesk is pretty decent. I just can't customize it like I need.
I just wanted your source. The source, Luke...Give me the source! :D
Greater customization is coming my son, use the force till then.

Has anyone tried HCL? http://www.helpcenterlive.com
Have to say Deskpro, I had it when the original was alpha! Does everything you need and is definatly not resource intensive.
We use the POP3 handler on a per minute basis and the server load doesn't alter one bit! Have tried others but they all seem to be server intensive.
I chose other because we use our own in-house help desk.
I'm a fan of e-support, from Kayako. I fell in love with it as a user, and just had to have it for my site.
There are a few things that can be confusing about it - especially when customers use multiple email addresses, but I think it has a good future, and a lot of the code has just been made visible, which is always great for online development.
