I had some domains I wanted to register and being the cheap bastard that I am I didn't want to pay a whole lot. Web.com advertised .com and .net domains for $6.95 so I figure "Ok, I'll try them".
Holy crap! What a joke that was. I registered the names Saturday night and got an email within a few minutes saying "We strive to fill orders within 24 hours".
Huh? Fill my order? I'm not ordering a custom made cabinet!
By Monday (they already had my money so I was sticking with it) I called only to find their toll-free number not working. No one was answering their regular number. Finally I got a hold of a person and question him about all this. He said "Oh, sorry about that - I'll send you an email with you login info."
Ok. So I get the email. I got to their website and the login says that the domain does not exist on their system.
I call the guy again. He said it should work in thirty minutes. Still no go.
I ended up registering my domains with Go Daddy and clearly they were available for registration. Even after Web.com had sent me my supposed "login and password" information to manage my domains.
Next time I try to be a cheap bastard I'll do it with someone I've heard of.
