Alexa Question

I have one site that is currently listed at 13,291 in Alexa. Over the past two months I've gotten it down from 20k to 13k. But I was wondering how often does Alexa update their database (ya I have no life, want to get below 10k).

I wouldn't worry too much about your ranking in Alexa. It doesn't provide all that much traffic anyway. It's nice to get ranked in the top million, but anything beyond that really doesn't matter too much.

Having said that, the answer to your question is daily. They update it every day based on traffic from the prior day back to 3 months, as Franky pointed out.

If you're that bored and have no life :) you may want to look more at indirectly boosting your traffic by getting other sites to link to it. This will get more users to your site, some of whom in turn will be running the Alexa Toolbar which sends traffic data to Alexa.

It's good for marketing though - tell your clients that you're in the top... whatever and that's a good way to start a business meeting or just a sentence :)

So a lower number is a good thing? So confused... and nice that they have the old chat site as the screen shot... DOH!

Yes a lower number is better. It's your rank in a list of 1 million sites I believe. Like in a race 1st place is better then say 5th place.

Yea I do hate the old screenshots, I think that there is some Israeli patent that enables real time screenshots... forgot their name though.. I sent them an email about it... it probably didn't even get to the secretary :)
