View Full Version : What to do about site rippers?

Seems that someone has already ripped my site's new design (not complete yet @ www.netluxe.com ) at www.influxhost.net/new

Seems that they can't even spell, and judging by the fact that they only accept payments by paypal, it looks to me like they are a bunch of 13 year olds.

What do you think I should do about this?

PS: Their rip is really ugly as well. I love the unlimited plan, anyone care to buy some hosting (not promotion) :D

PPS: Is this in the right forum? I hope so.

You have a nice site design, kudos. Nice job.

But sorry. I don't see a rip. I see a grid in the header in their site, and you have one too. But I fail to see where the rip is. They have different colors, different buttons, plan boxes, etc. Heck, theirs is even built in frames.

Then again, I am gettin' old and my eyes are starting to fail me, but I just don't see it.

I don't see a rip at all. But judging the fact that they used a header really shows something. Nice design by the way.

It's the right forum if you want it to be :D -though I'd have to concur that I don't see the rip, and thus, I personally wouldn't do anything.

I'm not sure if it's a rip either - if at all, they have might been 'inspired' (very light in my opinion)... but if its any consolation, your site looks a whole lot better :P

In any case, you should contact the owner of a site if you believe such a design is a rip of your own. If they don't respond, then you should contact their service provider. In most cases, their service provider can judge for themselves and they can decide whether or not to remove such server/site off their network.

However, if their service provider does not respond, then you can obviously go for some legal suggestions with your lawyer.

Yep and I agree that your site is much better. A bit of inspiration isn't a bad thing, unless they make it look better than yours, in which case you go after them with the same team that got O.J. off.

Perhaps it isn't too much of a rip. Those little pointy things that are extending from their title, as do mine, look extremely similar, as do other aspects of the flash.

Thanks for all of the nice comments on my design, I'm looking forward to hanging out here. :)

If this were the web site reviews forum (which it's not), then I'd tell you that your site looks extremely well polished and the flash at the top adds a nice expensive look, without being too oppresive (blue colors are always a safe bet as well). Since this isn't the web site reviews forum, I won't tell you all of that however. ;)

Sadly, it seems if the site is decent, it's not is it going to get ripped, it is when is it going to get ripped. I regret to say that no site I've ever done has ever been ripped (there's a hidden message there).

EDIT: Meant frame not header ;)

To me, that isn't even close to a rip. I do agree that your site looks very nice :)

Hello
I solved the site ripping problem years ago.

I have a site design that nobody would want to copy

I tried that, and they stole my words...the phrase "boatload of bad karma on your cosmic tallysheet" in the Acceptable Use Policy is kind of indicative, even if the rest wasn't a 95% matchup. (Or maybe 98%. They changed the company name, so maybe less...)
