I play I play!
I didn't pick it up as young as I would have wanted to, but have been playing about 7 years now. I was kind of backwards and started out on electric, and just recently (3 years ago) picked up an acoustic.
I have an Ibanez RG520 SQ and my acoustic is a Dean Artist CSE. Both sweet guitars, but my taste in music has changed so my ibanez is fairly useless. I need a good Les Paul to take it's place :(
I have a Crate GFX212 amp, again it goes with the ibanez, good for a real harsh and heavy punk/metal sound, but that ain't me anymore. Someone is buying the amp from me on friday :D
Anyway, I play my acoustic at least an hour everyday and I'm a big alternate tuning fan. The only problem is I need more guitars so I don't have to always retune the same one. But I love DbAbDbDbdb (dashboard confessional style) and Open C, and a few that I don't even think have a name :D
Oh how I love my guitars :)

I play an acoustic, but just learning how to play. I have a Electric Acoustic Yamaha or whatever (I don't know jack about guitars) that I got for Christmas (one of those buy-myself-a-gift-that-i-need-for-school things ;)).

I would go with a gibson for alternate tunings. The necks are a little more reliable especially when tuning down. With that said everyone does need a fender. all depends on your style. I've started getting into hollow bodies like gibson and gretsch.
Of course you can never have to many and never sell them, you WILL regret it later. For over 20 years I have played guitar and bass. I could kick myself for everytime I traded or sold a guitar to get the next hot thing.

I know but after playing maple fender for a few years gibson feels like a plastic toy - and the sound.. I don't know - it's lets you run up and down the scales while in fender you actually have to make a good sound out of every single note you play.
Heh I just found a crack just below the head on my fender 12-string :( It's the best acoustic I've ever played. Bought it from some clueless guy for a bottle of JD :D:D:D Luckily I've got friends to fall back on 'til it's fixed...
We were gonna start gigging soon too... just some acoustic pub stuff to get a bit of money until we find a (better) drummer... thing is, the rates pubs/bars/clubs pay here (brisbane, aus), I'd probably earn more money gigging than from hosting :D
