I have at least two accounts tht run very busy forums. They have wanted to do **** mailings of all the registered users.
One of the forums has over 2000 registered users. We use exim and have the parameters set to allow 200 mails per hour/ user.
The large mailings came to our attention because the server loads went way up. Plus because of the parameter settings it would take a very long time to send as many mails and keep the cpu loads high, impacting the whole server.
My question is what are others doing to meet the need of people that have these busy forums and want to do mailings.
I would like to meet the need of my client, but i would like opinions of what others are doing.
