View Full Version : What does your vehicle look like?

JeremyV

Well, we have seen our desks, our backyards... how about our vehicle(s)? They are pretty important parts of our lives and can be big investments... so let's see 'em :D I guess I will start.

Jeep #1 clean and posing for the camera (http://www.michiganjeepers.com/photopost/data/500/2flex4.jpg)

Jeep #1 being used as God intended (http://www.michiganjeepers.com/photopost/data/500/2mounds1.jpg)

Jeep #2 - Only $2200 bucks, right after I picked it up (http://www.michiganjeepers.com/photopost/data/500/2comanche4.jpg)

Can you tell what kind of vehicles I like? :D The red truck is in the process of somewhat of a teardown and restoration with some modest modifications in store

Most people probably don't take pictures of their vehicles, but I can't help it, I'm a junkie :p:

I have a klr650 (my little baby), and my f150 truck, don't have any pics of it loaded up, but I'll take some tomarrow (pitch black right now). Those Jeep Trucks are beasts, friend of mine used to have one. He said he could easily get the front end to pop up off the ground.

JeremyV
04-07-03, 07:45 PM
They are beasts all right :D Although it is a 1990, and in 91 they introduce the HO (High Output) 4.0L which pushes close to 200 HP and a ton of low end torque at stock. So, I have some work to do, but will likely be putting in a Chevy 350 in there anyway since the motor in it now does lack some compression and the exaust manifold needs to be replaced. I have a replacement manifold, but I put on a borla header on Jeep #1 and that was a nightmare. So if I'm going to go through that much trouble she's getting a whole new motor :D

Oh, and sorry, I'm a bit "car" deficient, what is a klr? I can talk your ear off about jeeps all day long, but ask me about almost any car and I'm clueless ;)

interactive
04-07-03, 08:03 PM
KLR is a motorcycle, dual sport I guess is what they call them. It's basicly a dirt bike and street bike combined. It really gets up and goes though. I used to be into cars (have a 92 probe for a while with a mustang v8 in it) but then got tired of working on it and sold it.

My brother has a Jeep Cherokee (SP) 2 door that he likes. 2 wheel drive couldn't do much with it but I like the short wheel base. The one thing I hate about most Jeeps though, is they plain suck on the high way (atleast like the wranglers and wheelies).

We currently own a Ford Aerostar (from '92) and a Contour sport (before they were redesigned) no pics, sorry. I only drive the contour really. Beyond that, it's the transit for this student.

Mine is a Pontiac Grand Prix GT 2001; I've posted this earlier elsewhere:

http://www.pontiac.com/grandprix/images/brand_models.jpg

Yes, it's taken right from the manufacturer's website, but my car looks just like that, except that it's white.

3.8 Litre, REALLY quick start (and good brakes, too).

I have a two week old 2003 Hyunai XG350 LX, great value. A 2000 Chrysler minivan, for the family. A 2001 Mercedes ML430, cause I live in the mountains. And still making payments on ex-wifes 2001 Mercedes SE320, cause the judge told me to. And last but not least I own the 1998 Jeep Cherokee Limited that my 17 year old drives.

Actually Jeremy, We have had a lot of trouble with this Jeep. I have lost track of the amount of money I have put into it. Of course part of the problem could be the 17 year old kid part. He had to lift it and put new tires and rims on it and of course he couldn't live without a strero that Hellen Keller could hear. Then he is in Tahoe snowboarding every weekend. And it's a taxi for all of his friends.

But I have had to reolace alot of major engine parts including the entire lower end, timing chain and gears, transmission, intake manifold, and on and on and on. Makes me weep just thinking about it so I will stop here.

JeremyV
04-08-03, 11:04 AM
Ahh, well if he lifted it, that is why. The moment you lift a jeep, especially the cherokees, they turn into an instant money pit :D And yeah, I think the teenage thing is a part of it ;) I know when I was 16-17 my dad let me drive his at the time somewhat new Pontiac Sunbird. I won't even discuss some of the things I did with that car...

But yeah, when I was driving it, it cost a ton to fix, things were always breaking... then after I moved out and got my own vehicle he began driving it again. And to this day (the car is over 10 years old now) it runs like a charm. My dad put another 100,000 miles on it for about 180,000 total miles. The only thing he's replaced since I stopped driving it has been new tires and brake pads. That car has since moved on in the family and is with one of my youngest cousins who just got his license... I think that may finally be the demise of that little car :D

That reminds me of the car handed down to me when I was in high school... a 77 Plymouth Fury! It's the ones that used to be the cop cars in all the old movies and t.v. shows (such as C.H.i.P.S.), and in real life. Mine looked exactly like the cop car on this page (2nd car shown, middle of the page), but mine was dark maroon.

i drive a VW Golf. You think your insurance is bad, i pay £300 per year, thats something like $500+

JeremyV
04-11-03, 01:27 PM
$500/year is good!

On my secondary jeep, the truck that is 13 years old that isn't even the primary vehicle.. I pay 550/year. On my wrangler, it is about $1,500 per year

thebyp2
04-11-03, 01:59 PM
most of my friends don't get it that cheap for cars much older than that. i am a member of advanced motorists so i get a heavy discount. its been £300 since i started with my first car, a fiesta. the increase in annual premiums seem to keep track with my increasing no claims which keeps it at a fixed price.

JeremyV
04-11-03, 02:45 PM
Must be nice to get good discounts :D

I have a perfect driving record, no accidents, never even been pulled over. I'm not a teenager, I don't have a sports car.. yet I still pay out the arse :[ I've even compared about 20 different agencies and I'm at the lowest. I can see why the wrangler is so high though because they are fairly easy to break into/steal. But otherwise, it sucks :(

Okay, I just want to point out first -- I'm really a good driver. Believe me, this is true.

Second pic is of my 2002 Dodge Stratus
http://www.markblair.net/02stratus.jpg

...I can explain, really. The 97 Sunfire was wrecked in 2000 when I rear-ended a semi-truck. Obviously you can tell that ended up becoming a tiny tin piece of metal. The 02 Stratus was just four months old last November when I sorta didn't stop fast enough on the freeway. Yep, that one was totaled too. The repair costs were near $10,000 before they even looked at the engine. As for the first car, this Sunday is the three year anniversary of that wreck. I shouldn't have lived past that one to begin with.

It's "legal". Over here anything under 50cc is legal (or, I should say 'unregulated') on residential streets. As far as anyone knows it's still a 49cc machine ;)

Beast? That Volare is nothing compared to our car... All 23 feet of it...

We have a 1967 Dodge Monaco -- 383 V8 -- 4BBL Carb -- 325HP -- all original hardware, and all original leather interior.

Don't have a pic (my dig cam is dead right now), but I dug around online for a pic of the same year (different color, etc). ^ Its semi-restored. Still has quiet a bit ot work to be done.. just need the money to finish it up. You wanna see insurance.... This is $900 for 6 months - just on this one.

We also have a '85 Chevy Caprice Classic... 305 V8, 4BBL Carb... We just bought that a couple months ago. That's only $400 for 6 months insurance (that's with 2 adults).

Exactly. So the commercial was partially succesful. That's why alot of companies use commercials that are off the ball. Or they have it run so many times you don't forget it. Like that OxyClean commercial, I've seen it atleast have a million times.
