What music do you normally listen to during your day?
Right now listening to 50 Cent - In The Club :D
Always a good time with Tower Host

didn't we already do this last week? :D j/k
I listen to a lot of blues and jazz, the occasional techno, and a lot of acoustic stuff...
Right now I'm listening to The Streets, some crazy british group :D

50 Cent is pretty good. Right now I'm listening to Styles P - I get high. Rather crude song but I like the tune I don't know why.

I checked out 50 cent and don't much care for it all that much (though I liked In Da Club more than Wangsta). Not too find of Styles P (from the other thread) either.

My mom hates Style P, I don't know why but like I said I just like the tune. Kind of funny how I remember alot of people (at college and stuff) said 50 cent sucked, then he became big and they came back and were like "he's cool, just bought his cd". I guess that's just how it goes. You ever listen to Nelly?
TowerHost.com

Nelly has some good stuff - I prefer his older songs like #1 and E.I.

Couple interesting club songs:
- DJ Tiesto (he has wicked talent) - Lethal Industry
- Who Da Funk - Shiny Disco Balls
- Sir Mix Alot - Baby Got Back (Funny tune - it's great :D )

I'm not really into the whole techno/rave thing, but I've heard Dj Tiesto before he's not too bad. I think by far Nelly's best song is #1.

I'm now listening to Bob Segar - Like A rock. You got to diversify your music ;)
Ha. You may think I'm crazy, but right now I am listening to Boonie Tyler - I Need A Hero

04-05-03, 09:57 PM
Who's Boonie Tyler? IS that like that Hero song by Enrique?
shaunewing
04-06-03, 05:08 AM
You mean Bonnie Tyler?
Currently I'm listening to Ministry of Sound - Chillout Session 2003.
It's good music to leave playing in the background when working - stops the silence without being intrusive.

I'm going to check out Cheap Trick in concert on Tuesday so I have I'm listening them right now...the dream police, POlice, POlice...ok I'll stop singing now.
Linkin Park / InFlames / Jimmy Eats World / Evanescence / Vertical Horizon / Trapt / Lots more
I tend to listen to things that aren't rap, but there are a few exceptions. Techno/Trance is ok, most video game remixes are good, I usually listen to them when I am coding.

Right not I'm shuffling between several artists - Linkin Park, Evanescence (ugh hm), 12 Stones, Static X, Commi Chung, Incubus, and T.A.T.u. Quite an interesting mix for one CD, eh?

I'm listening to Hoobastank and a few others right now, downloading the new COLD CD :)

Hoobastank - Never listened to them. They any good? They're a christian band right?
Not sure about the Christian part, possibly. Remember me & Crawling In The Dark are two to check out, good tracks :)

I'm not to impressed with the new Linkin Park CD. It's ok couple songs are pretty good but it sounds very similar to the previous CD like they're trying to cash in on the same songs again. I picked it up for $9.99 at Target that's cheap for a kind of new CD!
as with most songs, 50 cent was good the first 50 bajillion times I've heard it, but its past that point now....
All-American Rejects- Swing Swing
They have a really cool sound, trendy rock but an 80s pop feel IMO

I'm listening to One Short a Dozen - Benchwarmer right now. If I had the bandwidth available I'd send the Demo CD to ya. But with my luck 10,000 people would download it and I'd be done for the rest of the month.

Meteora, IMO, is another great work from Linkin Park. They're easy to vent to, but being the hardcore LP fan that I am, that may be considered a one-sided opinion - but it's what I like.
I like Hoobastank a lot. In fact just this past weekend I and some friends went to our school's junior-sponsored lock-in. Well, we did all sorts of stuff but I'm just gonna point this out. We sat there at like 4 a.m., blasting their album and singing along to it, sounded terrible - we practically killed the songs - but we could only pull that off with Hoobastank. LOL
As far as I know, Hoobastank was produced by that one guy from Incubus.
Anything Trance. Armin van Buuren mostly does an awesome remix of Dust.Wave, DJ Teisto a bit, Paul van Dyk, but mostly all the artists no one has heard of (moonchild, perpetuous dreamer, etc.)
And mostly in mixes.

OK, I Kazaa'ed some of the ones listed to check them out...
Sean Paul - Get Busy
Didn't really like teh Jamacian club beat thing. I'd rather some Bob Marley :D
Evanesence - Bring Me To Life
Off the DareDevil soundtrack, movie which I didn't see. Kinda sounds like a movie soundtrack song, along the lines of the Spiderman song. Sounded decent, though I didn't listen to the whole thing (about 1/2) before checking out Shiny Disco Balls :D
Who Da Funk - Shiny Disco Balls
This fits in with the weird crap I was sorta looking for in another thread. Musical value: very little, but it has an odd appeal, heh. Out of the ones listed, this one so far gets my vote, hee hee. I did find the cricket noise (not exactly) that repeats at the very end rather annoying, they should have left that out.
Sir Mix Alot - Baby Got Back
Have heard this one before, is pretty funny and good. A modern day classic booty song I guess you could say.
Closing Time by SemiSonic
Have heard this, which is rather odd, as I rarely listen to the radio. Last time I listened to the radio, No Doubt's single Hella Good was just released for airplay in the U.S., heh. That wasn't recent. Good song that Hella Good is, as are many songs by No Doubt. As for Closing Time, I didn't find much about it when I heard it, and a second listen didn't excite me. I'd like to hear a faster version of it, though I still don't thin I'd care for it all that much.
Hoobastank - Remember me & Crawling In The Dark
Crawling... just not my cup of tea. Remember Me hmmm... I suppose it reminds me of some of the cheesy bands of the 80's for some reason. WhiteLion or something like that. Bands that rode the edge between being pop and heavy metal. I like pop, and for metal I put on some good ol' Metallica (Kill 'em All, heh). I thought the Hoobastank was funk or reggae, I was quite wrong.
All-American Rejects- Swing Swing
Reminds me of Weezer, who I like. I don't think his voice is as strong as Weezer's singer, but I like the sound, though I'm not sure I'll ever need to hear it again. Decent though.
I'm putting on Shiny Disco Balls for another listen. :D Still OK, put on Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body, which I think I like mostly due to the bass line, which is from a half dozen songs, but still works, sorta.
And this has been Ebert and Chicken, at the stereo. The studio is now closed...

Justin's new song is alright.
OT Thought:
When I lived in Idaho there was a house down the street that was on the Spokane river, it was being built by the son of the founder of amway. It took them over 3 years to build the house (they didn't go too fast, I think they wanted to show it off the whole time). 2 weeks before it was schedueled to be completed it caught fire and the whole thing burned down. I believe they rebuilt it. But I found it rather funny, I would go down to the river to go fly fishing on Sunday afternoons and would see people down there looking at the house (from a lower portion of the river the house was on a big hill right on the river) ooo'ing and awww'ing. Couldn't help but to laugh. Anyways

Generally I agree completely, and most of the boy-band stuff I can't stand. I don't know why I find this particular song appealing, but I hear it on a Bally's Fitness commercial (I think), and it sounded OK. As I said, I think the bass thump is what really draws me to it. If you haven't heard it, I'd be interested in what you think.
I'll mention that as a drummer, I really do try to find something redeeming about any song. I don't particularly care for country music, but ther are some aspects and the general feeling that some country songs have which I can take and use to expand my musical knowledge. Don't get me wrong, the Justin Timberlake song is no masterpiece by any means...
I found another SuperChick song I really like (best by them so far)... So Bright. Give it a listen and see what you think. Better with a bit of volume. :D It is SuperChick, but I think they were listening to Sublime and/or some other rap/reggae as I think it has influences and quick lyrics and just a few hints of all added. Loud chick music, but not bad...

For women singers, there is of course... Aretha Franklin (yeeeeeow that girl can sing!). In addition to the usual favorites Respect (classic) and Chain of Fools (quite possibly one of the best songs ever written and performed IMHO, it just works), I have Baby I Love You currently spinning. Certainly a good one...
