Define oldie, lol. You might have to take into consideration age differences. :)

After being a music junkie for so many years, it's really hard to identify ONE single favorite oldie. The first "pop" song that I heard on the radio was Don McLean's American Pie when I was still in elementary school back in the 70s. From there, I have gone through American Top 40 charter-toppers (Eagles, REO Speedwagon), progressive rock (Yes, ELP), post-punk (Joy Division, Clash), Jazz/Fusion (Pet Metheny, John Coltrane), classical/ambient (Windham Hill, Beethoven), and even rap/hip hop (Lauryn Hill, Eminem). But two pieces really influence my appreciation of music: Genesis' Wind & Wuthering which led me to the serious side of rock music in 1976; and Talking Heads' Remain in Light which totally changed my attitude towards dancing (something I once very much looked down on).
