I currently have a fax machine, a scanner and a b&w personal copier.

I also have a Deskjet printer and lately have been in the market for a laser printer. I've been leaning against HP but came across a 5-1 Brother Multi-Function Center.

It's a laser printer, a fax, a copier and a scanner and was wondering if anyone has any opinions about it?

It would help me eliminate my fax, scanner and copier. Or should I just get a laser printer?

Opinions are appreciated.

I'm not so sure about Brother (either way). I do know that the all-in-ones are often overall fair at all, and not stellar at anything. I have a Xerox all-in-one and it is fine as a fax machine, is fair in regards to printing (compared to other printers we have, even a $50 cheapo HP), is fair in regards to scanning (as compared to my $30 Canon Lido 20), but it does copy well, and it is quick and does a great job in draft mode, and I can refill the black in cartridge with a large bottle of ink I bought, so I have it at school and more or less use it all the time to run off copies for the kids and homework for everyone, etc. Sheet feeder is convenient.

I don't have it here, but it's something like a Work Centre 50cx and it was pretty cheap when I bought it (under $300), and I think they can be had for under $180 now even. I've not had luck refilling HP cartridges, so using the HP was a bit expensive.

Like Chicken said, the all-in-ones tend to be fair to middle quality in everything. Brother is a very good brand for Laser printers, though, in my experience. We bought one last year (the HL-4000CN), and have been overjoyed with the features and quality.
Not a cheap one, mind you, but worth the cost, since it can handle all our printing needs (brochures, business cards, full color, duplex and more).

If you just want a laser printer, that $99 Samsung that they advertise all the time is supposed to be very good (regardless of the inexpensive price). Don't get me wrong... it's great to have the all-in-one *however* I'm just not thrilled with every aspect of it. For school, it's been wonderful.

We have Samsung here at the office and I've had the worst time getting new toners for it, tech support, etc.

I'm staying faaar away from Samsung as possible.
