View Full Version : Strange problem on server

Due to a crash at the data center recently things were messed up and some accounts lost. The tech at the data center couldn't get kudzu to run and reinitalize the network settings etc...
I got a free restore due to this accident. But ever since then some accounts have experienced this strange problem and I hope that someone here maybe knows how to deal with it.

Some accounts simply disappeared and redirected to another accounts web site on the same server - a canadian web site. We experienced this 15-20 times. In some cases the accounts incl. the backups were lost (very strange) and we had to recreate them because the canadian web site were loaded instead of their own web site.

I thought that the problem had been finally solved until I terminated my own web site today and restored it from the daily backup through WHM. After that it redirected to the same canadian web site. I then tried terminating and recreating the canadian web site. After that my own web site redirected to another web site on the same server. I did it again, and it redirected to a third web site on the server

Something is really messed up on this server - some pointer problem. The techs I use have been working on the problem, but haven't yet been able to fix it.

Does anybody here know what problem on the server is causing such a problem, and what could be done to fix it?

Thanks
John

Sorry, I can't help with the server problem, but I had to laugh at the "couldn't get kudzu to run".

Here is their official explanation with more details if that helps: :)

"As for the missing data, the ticket indicates a problem with the network drivers and other kernel modules. If the permissions in /usr/sbin had been changed, and that broke some applications like insmod and modprobe, this could cause the problems they had. In an attempt to fix this they removed some network settings, and were unable to get kudzu to run and reinitalize the network settings."
