Noted in some previous topics/postings, most of you didn't like the way NameCheap.com WHOIS was public, making others see a business domain with NameCheap.com as the registrar noting the word "CHEAP"
i have some domains with them, and i recently checked the WHOIS database on one of my domains, and it no longer says NameCheap.com as the registrar anymore, now as the registrar, it says "Enom, Inc." "www.enom.com"

NameCheap is never an ICANN-accredited registrar, so when you query the authoritative whois (like at http://www.internic.net/whois.html), you will ALWAYS get eNom (whom they are reselling for) as the registrar. See e.g. http://reports.internic.net/cgi-bin/whois?whois_nic=namecheap.com&type=domain

I saw a thread on another forum and the owner/only person over there said they had no intentions of being accredited and they will remain a reseller since it does not make business sense for them.

I like the fact that Namecheap is not their own registrar. I know that may sound strange but at least they're a reseller of one of the better registrars out there, in my opinion. Plus, if for some strange reason they disappear, you more than likely would just start controlling your domains through eNom. Hopefully they don't, however, because I like Namecheap and have several domains with them at this time.

The enom part is certainly good and helps ease many peoples minds. "companies" like namecheap that are one/two man show has its limitations. The biggest is they probably do not have their own inhouse technology team so they probbaly reply on developers they "contract" out compared to enom which has their own developers and technical people. The downside with contracting out key technology work is people who are not part of the company have access to sensitive information like credit card numbers, personal info etc. Who is to say they cannot download this info and do things with it? With a company like enom only employees have access to sensitive information. Anyone can "hire" a designer/developer a real company has infrastructure
I believe with most companies you can change that.
