Hello again,

Ive just finished reading a pretty good book on Community Development titled Community Building on the Web : Secret Strategies for Successful Online Communities by Amy Jo Kim. A lot of it was dedicated to picking the best BBS and chat, but it had many other interesting chapters. It discussed the role of moderators, paid employees, the pros and cons of each. It discusses design elements, how to make visitors get more involved, and also how to set up guidelines for online behavior. It pretty much took the best parts from every site and put them into a book with screen shots and all. The books a few years old, but a lot of the information is still relevant. As someone who is developing an online tool with a community element, I found this book be be a great help and I think it saved a lot of money in design costs, too bad I didnt read it before I started.

A lot of the stuff I already knew, and their dream BBS is actually vBulletin (though they dont mention it in the book, only InfoPops's), but I think this is one of those books worth picking up on half.com or BestBookBuys.com, I got mine for $10 used.
