View Full Version : Anyone use DemoDemo Tutorials?
Hi,
Im wondering if anyone has used vito's DemoDemo tutorials and has actually noticed a trend in the amount of support requests they received. If you had actual data that would be even better. I dont run a hosting business, but I was wondering how the tutorials had helped (or didnt help) in general.
They look impressive, and Ive made a few requests that havent quite made it into the queue yet, but I look forward to additional tutorials.

It really depends, I've noticed it depends on your target market. With a budget company, clients have a tendency to say "Piss off" to the demo's and FAQ's and email directly. With a higher end company they are far more effective (mostly because higher market webhosting tends to attract people that are willing to spend the money on Cable/DSL).

Nope. But we're think about it or making our own.
They are nice, indeed.

For the $60 he charges, I'm not sure I'd bother making your own (personally).

I'd agree with you there Chicken, I am impressed with the tutorials and especially the brandiing they add to them free of charge. Whether the clienst would actually use them is debatable.

Yah, very good product he offers. We are planning on launching those early next month.
We use Vito's tutorials on our site, http://www.verohost.com/tutorials.htm and they are great. It helps us give the customer a visual of what we are trying to say.
Vito was able to have our tutorials ready for us by the following day and we had them uploaded within minutes. I'd recommend anyone who has a large amount of support tickets that are the same to try him out. It's great!

Greetings:
We purchased several (H-Sphere Reseller / End user combo, Site Studio, FrontPage 2002, WS-FTP Pro, Cute FTP), and found them to be very helpful with our end users.
Thank you.

Yeah, true. I've seen some that have sound (voice) which were neat. That's why I thought of making our own... plus, it's free that way.
I'd end up buying just about everyone he had if I bought any. :)

Excellent demos.
We have a few custom demos for HSPComplete that Vito did an excellent job on. I also developed a nifty little redirector for the DNS demos that allows an individual to enter a domain and be directed to the demo for changing their nameservers. Works very nicely and has helped tremendously with new customers.
We have bought the PSA ones already, and we're going to buy most of the others as well. I'm actually writing an e-mail to DemoDemo now about a huge custom project we need, for Helm and such :)
Also, our current clients have access to them in the client area we have setup. Ever since we have, the only support tickets we get are from network problems, which hasn't happened recently, it's been so quiet it's been scary. How you market where to go is another story, we plan on having it put a recommendation to look at the tutorials in our welcome e-mails, signatures in MB and eSupport, possibly LiveResponse as the opening message. How you market the use and priority of them is what will determine their effectiveness.

The "other" hosting I company that I used to work for (sorry Josh) purhcased DemoDemo tutorials. Upon displaying the tutorials on the site, it reduced the trouble tickets by 75%

Vito already has Helm tutorials up there. We just bought both sets and are rather pleased with them so far :)
Really? :o
I didn't see them there, I havent been there since I bought the others, that's a relief :)
Great to hear so many happy customers. Makes my day...

Exactly. One of the most effective ways to use the tutorials is by providing a link to them in your Welcome Email. Works wonders...

You would be correct.

I've toyed with it, but I have a client base that's on dialup as much as on DSL; so I have to be careful. I'm toying with getting the tutorials for some of the basics, though: FTP, DNS changes, maybe something for FrontPage. I may gently herd a few of my clients over to check out the demo tutorials, and see if this is something that they'd use.
I'm still in that "contemplation" mode that all merchants hate. :D Sorry, Vito!
That's OK, Lesli. Keep in mind, though, that they are built with load time in mind. They stream very well. In fact, for the most part, someone with a connection as slow as 33.6K dialup will be able to watch them without delay or interruption.

I've watched the majority of them on 56k and it's not too shabby to be honest. What it boils down to in my mind is wait 1-2 min (if that) for it to start playing or let a customer wait for a reply. Even with 5 minute replies on average (if you provide that) it's quicker, and easier to understand, a visual aid ...
I plan to order some soon. I'll let you know how they go :)
Glad to hear the feedback on this topic because I was wondering how well they worked. Seriously considering getting some of these especially the C-Panel tutorial. That alone would have to save tech support some time, or at least I hope it would ;)

From what I've heard it's really helping some hosts - reducing the amount of support requests etc.
We were thinking to order some ourselves (Custom Tutorials) for our future Help Section...

Seriously considering DemoDemo over here, if it wasn't for the fact we have our own skin design I think I would have got the plastic out already!

I would think since most smaller companies use email exclusively for support, you could set up an autoresponder with the link to the tutorials in it and it would be a very effective way of helping your clients during the time it takes you to reply.
Great idea. blue27. ;)
Remember, though, that bar none, the most effective way to present them to your customers is to put a link to them in your Welcome Email. This of course presumes that the majority of issues/questions will come up when a new customer first signs up...

Hey vito,
Ive been sending tutorial suggestions for quite a while now, and thought I would ask publically. Any chance you would be making vBulletin, HiveMail, or DRAMS systems tutorials? Keep up the good work :)
Hi MMiz:
Since this is not a sales thread, I figure PM or email is probably a better way for me to reply... ;)
I don't want to suffer the Wrath Of The Chicken... :uzi2:

I'd suggest buying RoboDemo, what Vito uses for 299, on sale. Much better, and virtually unlimited tutorials.
