Hello,

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season so far :) I'm asking you, the sages of the web-world for some advice on a CMS-like system. Im looking for a script that can handle this pretty basic setup.

I have years of content, published monthly. Each month having numerous "posts" with a title, author, and the content. I would like to put this into a CMS so that in the future it will be easier to build and manage the pages. Currently it is done by hand in HTML. Do any programs exist that will allow me to do this? Allowing me to add several years of past data? I want to allow users to click on a month and see the long list of content for that month

I'm thinking of the following scripts/programs but seek advice:

- NewsPro / (I believe it is Coranto now)
- Movable Type
- Blogger

Can anyone else point me in the right direction?

Thanks, and Happy Holidays! :xmas:

Matt

I have used $100K CMS solutions like www.interwoven.com Team Site and I have used the free ones.

The one that I have found recently that I see that looks like it will do the job IMO is www.phpwcms.de

There are others that you can search for on www.hotsctipts.com You also may want to try looking into an application that isnt totaly a CMS but will allow you the functionality that you are looking for.

When you at hostscripts look at Typo3 CMS and some of the other big ones.

What you wont find is a solution that will allow you to pull in say years of data out of a DB and then format it for you. Thats just to much work and to many variables.

I would suggest a trip to http://www.opensourcecms.com/

They have demo installs of different php / mysql cms' (and more) that you can play with.

Hello,

TYPO3 is by far the best one we've seen (as far as open source goes).

Of course theres the big boys like IBM DB2. Microsoft, etc...

We've used TYPO3 for awhile

http://www.cartikahosting.com/webapps.php

Just scroll through the apps until you see TYPO3 then click on the project home page...

Hope this helps...
