It is coming soon, though I know I keep saying that. I battle between being too busy and stretched too thin due to work (demanding), internet jobs, the recent home purchase and all the things you have to do at the beginning, family, and school (still haven't finished the Masters yet). I've recently lightened the load a bit to try to free up some time to do some of the things I've not been able to get to, that being one of them.

Perhaps this also explains why Chicken is a bit slow in this. ;)
Anyway, I'll volunteer to allow HHO to use any of my banner/button for testing out its new advertising placement script or simply filling out the empty space on the top of this and every page. :D

Yes, it would (keen eye Mr. Slave :D). I will say that part of that uneasiness was due to the fact that it was long claimed that banners would never be put on, however I've never said that, so it isn't quite the same issue. I also think that a limited amount of advertising benefits everyone, however too many banners, buttons, disguised links, and pop-ups are really annoying, and that many sites tilt from helpful advertising to sheer annoyance.
I do appreciate your generous offer of using your graphics for testing purposes though ;) :D
Or you can put a "Donate" Paypal Icon..
I too am patiently waiting to have a look at your advertising rates...

How much are these forums used by actual web hosting customers though? Excellent exposure for the companies targeting web hosts...

Yep, I think ad campaigns by web hosts offering reseller services will do well here. You also have to consider the things that go along with the web hosting package... domain registration and perhaps web design. And I suppose the web hosting requests section *can* attract some non-hosts.

I'm a web hosting customer. I'm also not only the president of the Back Hair Club for Men, I'm also a client!

You would probably advertise here if you either offered services that anyone could use (such as domains, domain reseller accounts, SSL certs., control panels, etc.), or services targetted specifically to resellers or providers of hosting services (such as reseller accounts, servers, colocation space, etc.) Although there are end users looking for hosting either posting or lurking here, I would think someone who targets only end users (only offers shared hosting accounts), would concentrate on advertising with hosting directories. Untested waters really, so we'll see.

I'm trying to have something up by the end of my 3-day weekend (Monday) w00t! That and prepare to move classrooms :(
Let's hope Chicken has a head and doesn't do some outrageous prices like I dunno WHT!
Anywhere in the $50-$100 range would seem good and reasonable (with the amount of traffic HHO brings).
If anything, Copy Peo's Work @ FWs.Net. He has great prices.

While I don't know what Peo charges, I was thinking of rotating ads with the option to buy all spots (thus making it as inexpensive or expensive as someone wants). Still working through it. Every week something overly and unnecessarily time consuming seems to crop up. This week, I am packing everything in the classroom into little boxes as we have to move out of the room. This is leaving me exhausted at the end of the day. I have two more days to finish :( Next week we have visitors from the state which everyone is freaking out about and was/is the cause of much of the stress, plus standardized testing begins on the 10th (always a relaxing time, NOT!).
In between, I'm tyring to get a handle on that though, but I did not finish this weekend as I had hoped.

After doing hostingchat, and doing it impression based, the easiest would be one flat fee and rotation.
Like $100 a month, and like min 10 -15% rotation. Impression based works also, or click thru but adding advertising should not add a ton of extra work.
My recommendation, flat fee, and flat % gaurentee. Then everything is fair for everyone.

Heh, you can probably tell we move slowly here. Missed deadlines... false promises... someone's gonna get fired. Hopefully not me.
Come on, Chicken. There are many of us anxious to send you our advertising dollars. Make us all happy and announce some ad rates. :D

The issue is that I was trying to figure out a way to offer general advertising (ie: your banner shown on any forum), and well as targetted advertising per forum (ie: you want to advertise a shred plan in the Shared Discussion forums, not everywhere). If no one care about tracking (impressions, clicks, etc.), then I can do that now. If they do care about tracking (which I'm guessing they would), then I'm still trying to work it out to provide that.
I can't speak for any other advertisers. But as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter where my ad appears. Any forum is fine by me. But I guess you need to figure out what everyone else wants.
Why don't you start a thread about it? I'm sure you'll find out in a hurry... ;)

I think it may be cool to have both an advertisers site and a maybe a non one. Either way, my popup blocker blocks all ads anyway so for me i wont see the ads.
Phpadsnew is a great free program for handling your banner organization.
