Don't know where else to put this, figured here would be a good place (considering another Host - Opinions thread is here). I saw ads for ServerBeach on techtv and looked at their prices. $99 a month for no CP 1ghz amd, redhat, 512 ram, 60gb drive, and 400gb's of BW doesn't seem too bad for $99/$39 setup. Though IPs are like $2 per month, and overages are $20/gb. This would be mainly a project box, but would like it to have a decent amount of up time (they have a 99.5% sla I believe). Anybody ever dealt with these guys? What did you think of them? Anyone else out there besides RS, FDC, Burst, UCG, Ezzi.net? Looking for something unmanaged (this isn't really a request). Thanks looking for mainly opinions about Serverbeach

well i had a server from them before a while back before the offcaly launched the site.
the server i had was all most the same exp it had plesk on it.
i had no problems with the server it self or any down time do to there network.
well a 10 second router glitch but it fixed it self but other then that they provide a decent server for the buck. there tech people do help you a lot too if and when you run into trubble.
(like my self i managed to lock my self out fo the box, they reset the password for a fee and i was good to go again in about 1 hour)
hope it helps

Well I emailed them to see if they will work with minors. I got a funny/rude reply back saying no. So I'm going to stick with RackForce I guess.

Well no company should be working with minor unless the parents agree to get the hosting acocunt on their name and not the kid's name.

I used Serverbeach back in june 2002 untill september 2002, their uptime is great, and service was quite good, the only problem was the plesk server, I ended up having to much troubles with it so I decided to leave Serverbeach and get a Cpanel Server.

I can recommend them.

It's not that my parents have a problem with what I do it's more of they don't want to be financially or legally responsible. I can understand if a company doesn't want to work with minors. It's kind of a heated argument, and we could argue for hours, but it's not worth it.

I have heard nothing but bad things about them myself, but i have never used them.

I have used and highly recommend fastservers.net.
Also i have heard great things about a new provider dedicatednow.com

If I remember correctly, ServerBeach was started by someone who worked for Rackspace?.

Ya it was started by the co-founder of RackForce.

It's Rackspace Interactive, the former CEO/Founder(one of the two) of Rackspace went off to start the 'perfect personal server service', it's a completely what you see is what we have solution. Rackspace has even helped the former CEO/Founder to build it, and they are currently partners. I deal with Roger mostly, great guy, very helpful with issues relating to new server orders and present problems. I've only had to buy one set of 5 tickets, and I've been fine since. If you are not atleast an intermediate administrator, I would not recommend using ServerBeach, because it requires a lot of knowledge and others to fully be able to use their servers and maintain them, otherwise, you'll go into debt by just opening tickets. They used to charge like $15 for reboots back when they were starting out, but they are free now, which is a relief to a lot of people.

Has anyone noticed their new "Power" servers... there's no HDD space listed. Is that just because they forgot to list it or is something up?

Hey CDHost, I don't know why they don't list it initially, but if you click on the order/buy button, you'll see it lists all the specs. It's a 60GB HD, not bad really, I'd rather use their Athlons than the Durons, simply because Athlon is awesome :)

We used to buy serverbeach servers, i'd go with RS though, they have the same network.
