Do resold accounts all point to a reseller ip, or just the shared ip for the whole machine? In other words is there way to give each reseller an ip to which he can point all of his name based domains?
FOR EXAMPLE:
i created first main domain for the reseler on dedicated ip.(domain1.com on 000.00.00.000)
He created two of his sites thru his reseller WHM on the above dedicated ip.(domain2.com and domain3.com)
Problem is he can login the cpanels of domain2.com and domain3.com using the above ip but he CANNOT FTP to those sites with the above ip.
Anybody explain this please. Now he is using Machines shared ip to ftp to those two sites that he created thru his WHM.(NO Problem with first site that i created first)
Please hellllpppp......
I posted this in WHT forums too. No answer yet.
Thanks,
radhika

Hello,
Sounds like you would need 2 ips. To point name servers at. It's posible and I know quiet a few hosts do it.

My name servers on different two ips. The ip that i alloted to him is different from the ips of name servers.(Actually it is not reseller account. it is multidomain account where i allot one dedicated ip to him and he creates his other sites on that dedicated ip)
Thanks.

From what it sounds like it depends on the control panel. For example on my ensim server, it all resolves around the main server ip, even if I "give" a ip to a reseller or what not. I'm still confused about your question though. Thanks

Hello,
Thanks. i will format the question this way:
How to provide ip for resellers?
1. First i have to create an account for his main site(resellerhost.com for example)? If so it should be on dedicated ip?
On which ip he creates his resold accounts? On the dedicated ip that i gave him in the first step? Or i have to give him extra ip?
OR
2. Just i have to create his main account on one ip (not dedicated) and tell him to create resold accounts on it? In this case that ip will be shared by his main site and his resold accounts.

Hrmmm, don't completely understand your question but I'll give it a shot :)
1. First i have to create an account for his main site(resellerhost.com for example)? If so it should be on dedicated ip?
Generally resellers are on their own IP's, yes. You can give them a dedicated IP by checking off the IP box while creating the account AND selecting a free IP from the dropdown menu.
If you've already created the account then switch to a dedicated IP using "Change Site's IP" in WHM.
On which ip he creates his resold accounts? On the dedicated ip that i gave him in the first step? Or i have to give him extra ip?
Unless you set it otherwise the account will be created on the main shared IP. You can give resellers their own shared IP at the reseller center in WHM. The dedicated IP you used in the first step will do, but I think setting it up with the second IP (NS2) works better for resellers. I don't like this feature too much though... more problems than it's worth.
2. Just i have to create his main account on one ip (not dedicated) and tell him to create resold accounts on it? In this case that ip will be shared by his main site and his resold accounts.
That will work as well but the reseller won't have private nameservers.

I have one more doubt.
Could you please explain my first question in this thread? (giving domain1.com on dedicated ip and no ftp access to other sites created by reseller)

For FTP access you'll have to use either the domain name, the hostname or the MAIN shared IP (or a dedicated if you have one). Reseller shared IP's won't work with FTP (yet).

domain name: NOT WORKING (ftp.domain2.com and ftp.domain3.com) Even after site propagation.
Hostname or main shared ip: WORKING. But is this any problem to the reseller or his resold accounts? I mean, sites hosting on reseller's ip and ftp-ing thru machines shared ip?
Another thing is when i approach our helpdesk regarding this ftp accessing probem they said this:
--------------------
It appears that it's creating non-IP based resold accounts on the same IP as the reseller account, which is causing the problem. The server is checking the reseller account's password list, not the resold account's.
---------------------
This is what worries me. Why the passwords of the resold accounts are not taking in to account?
Please tell me a way to clear this if you can? or i can give one dedicated ip to host the reseller main site and give him machines shared ip to create his resold accounts. i think this is better idea. isn't it?
Thanks for your time. REALLY MEAN IT:)
