Hi,

So Ive been using SpamAssassin (http://spamassassin.org) for some time now. It has been great at catching spam emails, but every time I get one, it tells me by emailing me with a modified message with the spam attached. The subject is the original spam subject, and the actual spam is attached. Whats the point? I want to stop this crap from reaching me. Do I now need to set up a blocker in cPanel to block all emails that contain the spamassassin tag? Would this even work? Im not sure the process of how it detects emails, but what am I missing here?

Thanks.

Well, at the very least, you could filter all mail via message body (you said the message is modified), to a certain folder and do a quick review to see if you see anything important that it caught by mistake. I'm sure you could set up something on the server but I've never been knowledgeable about the server side of things when it comes to mail.

Okay,

So I set up an email blocker in cPanel so it blocks all mail with the SpamAssassin message, but it doesnt work. I assume that spam assassin acts before the blocker does, though it could be more complicated than I make it. Im not sure whats worse, the Spam or SpamAssassin.

Are you going to set up a rule in Outlook to toss the messages in a folder or in the trash?

Look at your MailScanner.conf file, you can configure every thing that it does.

It is useless (without reading the replies) and we've disabled it on all servers.
