Skype is like a Net Meeting program from the makers of Kazaa. I started using it recently. The sound quality is really good.

Has anyone else tried it out?

I've heard of it and downloaded it, but I haven't tried it out yet. What have you used it to do so far?

I use it while I'm working on the computer. It's basicly like a hands free speaker phone kind of thing. I use it to talk with co-workers.

JohnAllen,

I use Yahoo! Messenger for the same thing. Everyone gets into a conference and we chat.

I think being able to talk to your partner, co-workers, system admin, etc is wayyy cooler then in a messaging problem like AIM.

True i guess but depends on the reason of the meeting also though :)

Skype does not have a conference feature yet.

Right now i'm having a audio conversation while posting this message. For me, I like it more than IM because IM seems to distract me from my work and lower my productivity. This way I can keep working on something (like posting on this forum) without switching windows.

We tried the beta version. The only problem we saw was the amount of resource usage it took.
