Interested in what members would consider to be the ideal affiliate program. Most particularly, do you prefer to get a single payment up front or do you prefer to get a smaller upfront payment and a monthly recurring commission.

Just so you know, this got posted twice (not trying to be rude). Anyways I think a smaller payment up front and then reaccuring every month would be best. Just my 2 cents.

Just so you know, this got posted twice (not trying to be rude). Just so you know, the other one is "reseller", not "affiliate." (not trying to be rude). Thanks for your reply, however.

Oh sorry, my bad. Still not awake.
I prefer a one-time payment upfront. If I was interested in a monthly referral I would go for a reseller program.
Ideally, I would like to deal directly with the host, and not have to go through a third-party vendor and I would like to be able to pick and choose the products I can affiliate with (similar to the way the Amazon product works)

I suppose the biggest concern with affiliate programs is tracking (both for the person offering the affiliate program and the person signing up). If I could be assured that my payments were accurately tracked, I'd prefer getting a percentage of what the customer spends each month. That is, if I've understood the question correctly...
What you are asking is, if a customer signed up for Plan A ($25 setup fee, $15/mo.), would I like a one-time fee of $20 (for example), or $5 and $3/mo. (for example), correct?

By the way, what happened to my ideal reseller program thread?

I'd rather get 20-25% fo the monthly fees, but honestly I'd take either :) I need to find some decent programs like this (not for hosting really, for other value added services).
Oops, sorry I thought that was a duplicate of this thread. I'll restore it and make it more obvious that the two are different.
EDIT: Ummm, oops, since I thought they were the same thread, just accidentally posted twice, I ummm.. deleted it. Can you please re-post it (sorry).
One time payment is really good.
