I'm playing a custom-made CD made up of MP3 LEGALLY downloaded from http://mp3.washingtonpost.com. This is the largest QUALITY MP3 collection I've come across which keeps updating on a daily basis, although it's kind of LOCAL to the Washington D.C. area.

Is that the heavy metal-ish version re-do of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" ? I've always wondered who did that 2nd version, but I'm not sure that's what you're listening to.

Right now I'm listening to Ultra-Lounge (compilations of various artisits). I went searchign for it on the net to find a link and just found out there's a site: http://www.ultralounge.com/ It's mostly just funky old lounge music from back in the day. :D

This is the one I have (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/music/B000002U5V/holly-ultraloungecd/002-5529213-0050447), they have a bunch.

Sarah McLaughlin's "Solace". She's got a nice voice, writes lovely music, but it's best when I'm doing something else and not thinking to myself, "This woman had some serious issues when she wrote these lyrics". Kind of puts a damper on my enjoyment in the music.

A few days ago, it was Arrogant Worms.

No one can say my musical tastes aren't eclectic. :)

I've never really listened to Michael Jackson, he just kind of wigged me out. But here's the lyrics:

As he came into the window
Was a sound of a crescendo
He came into her apartment
He left the bloodstains on the carpet
She was sitting at the table
He could see she was unable
So she ran into the bedroom
She was struck down
It was her doom

Annie, are you OK
Are you OK
Are you OK, Annie
Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie
Annie, are you OK
You OK
You OK, Annie
Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie

Annie, are you OK
Will you tell us that you're OK
There's a sign at the window
That he struck you
A crescendo, Annie
He came into your apartment
He left the bloodstains on the carpet
Then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down
It was your doom

Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie
Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie
Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie
You've been hit by
You've been struck by
A smooth criminal

So they came into the outway
It was Sunday
What a black day
I could feel your salutation
Sounding heartbeats
Intimidations

Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie
Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie
Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie
Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie

Annie, are you OK
Will you tell us that you're OK
There's a sign at the window
That he struck you
A crescendo, Annie
He came into your apartment
He left the bloodstains on the carpet
Then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down
It was your doom

Annie, are you OK
You OK
Are you OK, Annie
You've been hit by
You've been struck by
A smooth criminal

Annie, are you OK
Will you tell us that you're OK
There's a sign at the window

A crescendo, Annie
He came into your apartment
He left the bloodstains on the carpet
Then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down
It was your doom

Annie, are you OK

Are you OK, Annie
Annie, are you OK

Yep, that be Michael Jackson. If you've never heard the original, you can fid a sample of it on http://www.michaeljackson.com/ though I can't link you directly to it as it is flash, and a bit hard to find. It's off the "Bad" album.

I'm not exactly a Michael Jackson fan, but this song, along with the MTV is MJ at his BEST. Sadly, he has since fallen from grace. Poor child.

I am not going to comment on his p* charges, but I think he is the kind of person that refuses to grow up and face the reality. That's what I meant by "poor child". Actually, many pedophiles have similar mentality. Oops! ;)

By the way, does anyone know of any GOOD source of free and copyright-free mp3 files. I have been to echovibes.com, not bad; but I need more to choose from, esp. with loop dance music/beat. Any idea of such websites of that capacity (not those on GeoCities)? Thanks.

I am actually looking for clips that are copyright-free and can be used for website design (as in Flash or simple embed HTML tags). Songs on the Washington Post are copyrighted. By the way, go for the Editor's Picks for better ones; of course, not many people listen to music from Midori, Talking Heads to Eminem ... like me!

Thanks, Chicken. Flash Kit's loops page is very helpful. I am now working on a model agency site for my client and the owner (probably a model herself, looks like one at least) wants some up-beat music on her site.

I also have Evanescence playing......you can get the full CD as well as other full cds off of www.music369.com or www.musiclines.com Its a major pop up hell....but it makes for easy downloading. They both usually have a decent selection of CDs....updating every day or every other day :) I do recommend the Evanescence: Fallen CD :) Amy Lee is just that awesome :)

It is really lame... but in a good funky lame way. I've heard much worse. OK, TURN ME ON to something else funky fresh Zummi! Something like that will do. I'll try to find something for you in return, hmmm....

Pretty much anything by Superchic[k] falls into the lame yet someone interesting. Barlowe Girls, One Girl Revolution, Big Star Machine, Super Trooper, etc.

Reminds me of waitresses - xmas_wrapping (http://www.hardcafe.co.uk/waitresses/xmas_wrapping.htm), for some reason. Not at all alike, just something about the two.

EDIT:
I just found out that One Girl Revolution is on the "Legally Blonde" movie soundtrack (a movie I never saw), which means a couple of things. One, this song isn't new (not that that matters I suppose), and two it is probably lame and everyone already is sick of it.

OK, one last one. Yet another old one that everyone has probably already heard, but it just happens to be in the rotation and I just realized that I like ti more and more every time I listen to it:

Matchbox Twenty - Disease

I feel it is quite possibly one of the better songs I've ever heard. just well done overall, and if you give it a bit of volume and have a subwoofer, mmmmmmm, yummy. There are two versions...

My music taste is very diverse so you'll hear a lot of different styles (with the exception of rap/hip hop) around me during the day :)

Sorry about quoting kind of out of context, but this line of yours is really thought-provoking. ;)

Personally, I'm not that into rap music. But I honestly think that rap IS already becoming the mainstream of pop music and more importantly attributing (along with e-mail) to the revival of the written word among the younger generation.

Part of the reason is that rap music is mostly stemmed from the black sub-culture and inevitably contains the socio-economic context that even the so-called talented Miss Avril "he-was-a-punk-she-did-ballet-what-more-can-i-say" Lavigne lacks. And although their lyrics are very often too "explicit" (forget the "clean" version), it brings the power of words back to the pop music scene which has long been occupied by songs with lyrics that are optional, to say the least.

I'm a little late to this one, but I've been listening to the new Linkin Park album almost non-stop

ahh.. I don't listen to normal radio, so that's probably why I like it :D I listen to NPR (national public radio - talk/news) or sometimes the college funded station which plays a lot of blues, jazz, and world music you don't hear otherwise. Mainstream radio and MTV... wow, that is a whole different thread

I'm not a big fan of TV and such, feel its rather a waste of time. I listen to NPR, Michael Savage (no comparision), and Rush Limba (SP) quite a bit when I'm driving around. But turn on the radio quiet a bit to get some new tunes in my head, because afterall listening to the same stuff gets boring after a while (I mean same genres).
