Congrats rockergrrl, he seems to have been a long time coming :p: What does his big brother think about him?

2 kids now... both boys (you should know that Chicken hehe).

My son just turned 3 on Feb 21st -- so its kinda like a birthday present for him :)

Big Brother is adjusting. He loves his baby brother to death though... but from going from the #1 spot, to having to share it, that's still going to take some time on.

He never really understood the whole "mommy's going to have a baby" thing while I was pregnant... and then *POOF* there was a baby in the picture.

But he'll get better though... just going to be a process and a half to get him to understand.

Has he assumed the big brother role: trying to take care of the baby, and watch out for him?

He's trying to help out. Gets diapers for me...

Absolutely loves to hold him... though he has lots to learn in how to support the lil' guy's head. ;)

My sister had a baby in August, they're so small. My cat weighed more than he did when I held him... guys growing up so quick! (Dejavu of being 4-5 and hearing my mother say that) but he's like 7-8 months old now and it seems like only yesterday he was born (now I _really_ sound like my mother).

But yes, congrats :)

LOL... makes one want to schedule an appointment to get "fixed" eh? I'm not too bad (I know worse and I know better), though I did recently hit the folks up for some $$$ to help with the house buying. If my son asks me for money, I'll have him give grandpa a call.

Do you wonder about that? When I was laid off last year, we had to hit Roseanne's parents up for money to pay for a new air conditioner (9 month pregnant woman + 100 degree plus weather = bad time for allan) and the same thought occurred to me -- am I going to have an extra $2k when Bruce's AC goes and he needs the money?

You don't believe that those retirement funds (IRA, 401k, etc.) are really for your retirement do you? They should be more appropriately named "Bail the Kids out Funds." We just started our educational contribution plan for the little guy so he can go to school when he's 30 or so, if he chooses not to go to school then I'll finally have that lake front property I've always wanted... Hmm, not much incentive to push him to take the educational route eh?

Good point -- we didn't touch our IRA, but I guess we could have. Part of it is our own fault, since we are determined to be a single income family, we cancelled all of our credit cards (except for the check card that pulls right out of the bank account), so we had no spare cash to buy the new air conditioner.

We started one of those 529 plans as well, and as I watch the $100 deposited into it every month I keep wondering if, by setting this up, we are implying that we think he is too dumb to get a full scholarship :D.

Think of it as a big cash reward to yourself if he does get a scholarship. :) That means you did a good job and deserve a fairly large cash infusion to buy a new boat! The 529 plans have pretty good rules regarding distribution along with Scholarships, so it's a definite win win.

I'm nto to familiar with all the retirement planning things (probably should get familiar with it), but was told life insurance plans are basically money you'll never see along with other retirement plans. I don't know, something I really need to get on the ball with. I'm not too great at putting money away. I'm better at buying laptops and hard drives and DVD burners.
