Ok, I know I may get tarred and feathered here, but does anyone know what they heck is going on with Rackshack.

Seems like everything is down there.

They get bombed?

I have two of 4 servers there not responding as well as rackshack.net, their forums now, and webhostingtalk.com

they're having 'network problems', so, probably a DoS attack again.

yes, WHT is down also.

PING Rackshack.net (207.218.223.142) from XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX : 56(84) bytes of data.

--- Rackshack.net ping statistics ---
7 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

That must be a heck of a DDoS if it can take down all of RackShack -- especially considering their bandwidth and the diversity of their connections.

Of course it could also have originated internally -- like a spanning tree problem or something.

from what i 'heard' they're hitting the routers badly so sites are going up/down/up/down.. :\

Are any other hosting companies having similar problems today?

I don't know, but ev1.net is up so I emailed their support.

Want to see the lame response I got back after my servers have been down for 3+ hours.

I understand $h!t happens, but come on with the lame excuse, tell your customers the truth.

We are currently experiencing problems across our entire network and
are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We have no
estimated time to repair at this time, and I have no detailed information
about the problem. All I know is that it is a netowkr issue of some sort.

Undoubtedly, with a company as large as EV1/RackShack, there are legal issues involved as well as technical. Undoubtedly, they do not want a help desk person to say something boneheaded, which may open them to a lawsuit.

This is the way most large providers work, I am sure an answer will be forthcoming, but it will have to work its way through the legal department.

Well, I think this i a fair response to the question. If it is a dos attack, then it falls under "network issue" :D
