For eye candy garbage. I like rackfast. But for just a "normal" site, I think rackshack did a pretty good job. After a while all the eye candy gets very annoying...

Well, it is eye-candy, I'll give you that, but I still keep coming back to http://addr.com and http://hostrocket.com -plus a few other pixelbrick sites (I guess I'm a sucker for eye candy sometimes). I haven't spent time (lately), looking a many hosts' designs though. I'm sure I've missed a few really nice ones...
It's hard saying that there is a favorite, there are so many designers out there you know. I dono I like my work, I also like the work of others. Beats ME

Yeah, I like addr's website, I also like VibeHost.com. I used to like my site, however I've gotten used to it, and now I hate it. I'll probably end up re-designing it for some reason.
I think HostRocket's site is awesome. I like their new company's site too... they do dedicated servers. RackFast or something...

I like http://fastwebsites.com, http://rackfast.com.....
Don't have a favourite, but I do know that I strongly dislike the colours used in the FastServers.net site. However, I have no other beefs w/ that company. :)

http://www.rackfast.com for its incredible flash
Hello,
http://www.suckasshost.com
Its the time and effort spent on that host's site and the amount of money they must have invested in their design's time (millions)...... amazing
 :stupid: :csmoking:
TowerHost.com

Ouch, RackFast - that site is terrible
It only takes 25 minutes to load (slight exageration) :baghead:
I enjoy the simplicity of HostWay.com - very organized and clean. :D Fastwebsites is also very well done
Not sure why everyone likes HostRocket - I think their design is terrible - not easy to navigate - mix match of colours for every area... seems messy and not well thought out to me. :baghead:

i agree, i just never have personally liked the designs of which the header (company , logo etc) spans 1/3 the total design, even @ 1024 x 768, the header is pretty big, just a waste of space imho

Seriouesly, though. I like Aussie Bob's design because it's not a design per se. It's a place to get answers for my hosting, or hosting-related questions which is reassuring to me as a customer.
If we're talking strictly design, I like McHost's design. It's very clean and clear. I do not like a lot of flash and stuff even though I do have a fast connection , but a lot of that stuff tends to look the same after a while. It gets hard to distinguish one host from another because the designs are so similiar. I ahve seen a lot of them, yet, i can't seem to remember one at this moment. I think it's because they do not stand out or distinguish themsleves from one another.
Just my opinion, and it really doesn't mean anything at all, so no flaming ya'll.;)

I like www.esmarthost.com
Good clean design, easily understood.
Ive always enjoyed www.unitedhosting.co.uk personally....
Those pixelbrick designs better be good considering those companies probably spent a fortune to get them made.....
So far ive redone my site 3 times in 4 months :p: Im a hard man to please I guess

Oh well never mind.
My second favourite is unfortunately Media Temple.

f5hosting.com
Hostrocket.com
And everything from pointtoweb.com
I was always in awe of addr.com when I used them :)

Ya PB sites generally go for around $20k I believe. Depending on the type of site it can or won't be worth it.

www.webhosts4cash.com and www.fastactionhosting.com (I love painfully obvious web hosting scams that overwork pigmentally challenged rabbits to the point where the SPCA is called in. :D )
My serious pick is, as much as I've grown to hate the host itself, Interland's. I find it aesthetically pleasing and calming (which probably is by design for when someone like me gets pissed off at the site going down), and the trouble ticket system is easy enough to navigate. Now if only they'd turn off the stupid "We have the following possible solutions for your problem" thing that never actually has a solution for the problem...
This thread just goes to show that the design of a web host makes a big difference in whether people sign up or not. It may not be the biggest factor, but plays an important role in determining whether your hosting company will be a success or a not-so-success (a.k.a failure).

Sites with color are good. We dont want a site that looks like the inside of Albion Correctional Center. That would be terrible. But what do I know I'm just a 'guy in albany' lookin for a good time online.

I disagree with that. Many 12 year olds with design skills can put up a superduper crash hot site, but that doesn't mean they know a lot about hosting. Sensible people will do some homework on hosts that they think sound good and get opinions from others via forums such as these. I am more likely to choose a host for the way they interact with people on forums such as these, taking into consideration their helpfulness, politeness, length of time in business etc
Once I have nailed it down to a few, site design means nothing, word of mouth speaks wonders

Once I have nailed it down to a few, site design means nothing, word of mouth speaks wonders  I belive site design is a big factor when picking a host...Especially for virtual hosting....People are going to have a hard time trusting a site that looks like it was designed by timmay down the road...Ive always appriciated a more corprate style that doesnt try to flash you to death and that doesnt just throw 50 pages of needed less flowery informating in your face....

Timmay played a bunch of designers and got some extremely nice designs out of them for his sites/'companies' so watch out :)

I used to be a real big fan of the PixelBrick/Ceonex designs. For some applications I think they're great, but for a web host it doesn't seem practical. When you're searching for a host and you've got 20 windows up, you just want quick, clean and easy information - not a flash header eating up all your bandwidth before the text comes up.
www.rackspace.com
www.rackmy.com
www.hostway.com
They've my favourites at the moment. I've loved RackMy.com for a long time, really simple - and a color scheme you don't forget.

Gearhost.com's design looks pretty good, though loads slow for me. But I agree that addr.com is definitely appealing! I went there simply because of the repeated mentions above and wasn't disappointed.

www.okihost.com :D
my opinion might be biased ;)
www.liquidweb.com would have to be my favourite webhosting design.
