One of the most annoying inventions ever made must be caps lock. I find it sooooo rare that I ever need/want to type something in all caps, and notice that when I do type something in all caps, I just hold down the shift button most of the time.
Why is the Caps Lock key by the 'a' key??? It should be up by the function keys. You should have to use a 20 key combination to turn it on and off (ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+F9+ ...). I can't be the only one who has typed away, only to look up a minute later and notice that the last 3 lines have ben all-caps'ed and U HAVE TO GO BACK AND RE-TYPE EVERYTHING.
I want to disable it. Forever. It's function isn't worth the pain and suffering it has put me through over the years. The sadness. The annoyance. I have WinXP Home on the new laptop, but I'd also like to know for Win2000.

I believe the point of it was in the early years the caps key was invented to make it easy to do case-sensitive programming, and it became an industry standard.

Customize it to play a sound when pressed. That REALLY helps!

I wish the anti-caps lock thingy was free (only because it would be nice), but I'll try that and see how it goes. Might even register it :D

To safely disable the CAPS LOCK key on your new laptop pc installed with WinXP, read the following steps:
1. open lid on keyboard but do not turn laptop on.
2. tilt laptop backwards at a 45 degree angle.
3. take a small screwdiver and jam it underneath the key in question.
4. in one fluid motion, twist and pry the offending key from the keyboard.
5. once removed, pass the key to the nearest mcnugget.
6. turn head away from mcnugget for 2 seconds.
7. return view to mcnugget and the offending key will never be found again.
If you follow these instructions, kindly deposit $10,000 in unmarked bills at your favorite italian restaurant.

That will surely do it! Though errrrrrrr... I was hoping for a less 'physical way' of achieving the goal.

I believe in WinXP you can use filter keys, it's in accessories>accessilbility or something like that. Or just hold down the shift key for a while.

Control Panel > Accessibility > Keyboard > Use Togglekeys
By playing a sound when toggle, you will NOT type away without noticing the CAPS LOCK.
