I'll give a bit of a rundown first. I'm a college student currently working on my A.A.A.S in Computer Technologies, Networking Emphasis. I'm looking for a position as a support technician (email/helpdesk). I'll explain some of my skills below and a bit of an explanation of each (sorry if it's too long).
You can contact me via PM or Email (my email has been acting quite strange lately so your best bet may be via PM).
Since the majority of my experience comes from personal ventures I'd be willing to answer some "test" questions, to see if I'm capable of filling a position in your company. If you have additional questions about specific areas that I don't cover below, you can ask them here, as well as via PM or Email.
Experience and Skills:
The majority of the experience below is from my home PC and from businesses I've owned over the past 3 years.
-- Linux --
The majority of my linux experience has been with Mandrake (Home) and Red Hat (Servers), although I've had some work with Debian. I've configured, compiled, installed and upgraded a variety of packages (excluding the kernel). I haven't really done a lot of work putting in extra security measures on a box, although I've recently started working with iptables and ipchains.
-- Windows NT --
My Windows experience is limited to development work, I haven't actually worked on a Win box in a production enviornment. I've only used Apache in my development enviornment, and haven't even installed IIS before.
-- WHM/CPanel --
Almost 3 years experience working with WHM (root and reseller) and CPanel. Can do basic theme editing, although I'm not very good a graphic design at all.
-- BIND/DNS --
Can make modifications to DNS zones with or without WHM. Haven't done much configuration with BIND, but could always read up on it if neccesary.
-- Apache --
Excellent understanding of Apache config files. If neccesary I can setup and modify vhosts directly from config files. This is the only web sever I've ever used (on both Linux and Windows).
-- PHP, Perl, ColdFusion --
I've been programming in PHP for nearly 4 years and can handle most advanced features and troubleshoot installation problems, as well as PHP.ini setup. I'm not a Perl or ColdFusion guru by any means, but know enough about each to troubleshoot installation problems.
