View Full Version : what do you prefer?
When you purchase a website... do you usualy buy domain name from the company who is providing your webspace? Or do you usualy go to a different place?
I started out getting both from the same company, but then when I decided to move my webspace provider wasn't helpfull in providing me the information I needed to change the DNS for my domain name. So I lost that domain name and someone else already bought it , so from now on I think its best to go to a different place for domain name, plus its cheeper :)

In times like this, I look to the wise words of The Offspring... You gotta keep 'em separated.

I would have them separate for the simple fact that you might not like your host after awhile and if so, good luck getting them to give you control of the domain. I've seen pretty bad stories about this.

you're telling me... i wanted to kill somebody when my old hosting company wouldn't give me my info i need to have control over my domain name... dollarhost.com never hated a hosting company as much as i hated them... i feel myself getting angry just talkin about it..

I guess your best bet is to register domain names with REGISTRARS and host them with HOSTING companies. The names say it all! ;)
