View Full Version : Cottage Cheese and Apple Butter
I love cottage cheese and apple butter -- but every time I eat it, my wife tells me its weird, she doesn't know anyone who eats this besides me (my mom does, that's where I developed my taste).
So, I ask the board, is the fact that I like cottage cheese and apple butter weird?

Hmm, I don't know, I think it might be ok. I would have to try it, but I'll try *almost* anything once. ;)

Yes  :yikes: :yuck:
JK there, Allan. Cottage cheese is alright, but I've never had apple butter. I don't even know what that is. Do you like eat this together? If you do then, yeah, I think it's pretty weird. If you eat it individually, then it's ok.

Yes, you eat them together -- and I think they complement each other well...but apparantly no one else (except my mom) does :).

I had never heard of apple butter either, though that short explantion page sure makes it sound good! Do they make this in the town square by you as it says? Almost sounds like something that would happen where I grew up (in CT), but not here in Southern California.

The town I am in is barely big enough to have a right angle, much less a whole square :D. We generally use store-bought apple butter, but the orchard up the street from us does have great apple butter, in season.
We are about an hour away from Berlely Springs, where the apple butter festival is held, but we have never actually been to it :).
Do they sell apple butter in chain grocery stores like Harris Teeter, Kroger, Publix, Food Lion, Winn-Dixie? (i listed a lot because chances are... some grocery chains that are present in the Southeast here might not be for other regions)
Never heard of them either...
I heard of cottage cheese, but can't say I've had it ever - what would you usually use cottage cheese on?
can you tell I'm not too good with food? :)

Food Lion definately (at least near us), it is in the same aisle as the apple sauce. I don't know about the other grocery stores you mentioned, but I can tell you that Giant, Safeway and Shoppers Food Warehouse all carry apple butter

Cottage cheese is often served with fruit -- canned pineapples and peaches come to mind. Another common use (at least near us) for apple butter is on a peanut butter and apple butter sandwich.

APPLE BUTTER RULES! :)
That sounds like something my dog would even reject :yuck: :yuck:
*shrug* can't say I've ever had apple butter... but I kind of like the solid apple the way it is... especially the granny smith apples (green and a bit sour ones). I always liked sour apple! :)

Have you tried those carmel apple pops? Mmmmm. I have a picture of the bag if you missed it (I posted it somewhere, not here, a long time ago).

No, but I love caramel and candy apples!! I'd love to see a picture of the bag so I can look for it.
