I know most of the reasons why people like ModernBill and with those reasons alone it seems like everyone would be using it. I would like to know some of the reasons why some people choose not to use it. I'm about to purchase it and I'd like to know why I shouldn't (if I shouldn't).

Here is my likes/dislikes:

Likes:

- Easy to Install
- Easy for the customer to order hosting
- Manages invoices and keeps track of payments
- Allows customers to register domains when signing up for hosting
- Supports Multiple servers
- Let's me customize the way the signup form looks
- You can suspend/delete accounts through MB

Dis Likes:

- Order form is a lot of pages
- The user area is heavy on graphics
- Doesn't allow me to offer free domains w/o "hacking it"

But this will all change when 4.0.3 gets released!

Thanks for the reply!

What's new in 4.0.3?

And;

Do you find that customers like using ModernBill?

And does eNom work with ModernBill?

4.0.3 will have bandwidth monitoring and overcharging.. it will have price freeze .. it will allow for free domains and what not.. and yes it works with enom (we use it).

Our customers don't comment it, but we do get a lot of signups and it takes a load off our backs.

Well, you've convinced me. I just signed up for the 30 day trial with full intent on liscensing it once my trial is up. I say: "why not save $14.95 on the first month?" :)

The current version has a skin for the client area that's light on graphics.

Modernbill works great with Enom we use it all the time, the order page has to be the biggest downfall for me and I have pulled several patches of hair out trying to work with it on a dialup 24000bps connection..

Overall awesome product though, be prepard to do some tweaking for a week or so before you get it all setup correctly.

Yeah, I've tweaked the hell out of it. Now I just need to get my Authorize.net info and tweak that. :D

I think they'll be dubbing it version 4.1.x to reflect all the work that's been done, including a slimmed-down order form. I'm looking forward to it.

I'll go along with Robert on the likes and dislikes. I'll add to the list the configuration complexity, but I'd put this under both likes and dislikes. All those configuration settings that makes MB flexible and powerful also make it very frustrating at times. But once it's set up you're out of the woods.

Someone (somewhere) once referred to MB as an 800lb gorrilla. They're right. :)

I like MB, but some of the downfalls that I didn't like were the fact that it didn't do recurring billing with Paysystems or 2Checkout. This was big downfall. The reason was that of the 7 customers that I signed up under modernbill, I had to terminate all but 2 of them for non-payment. The other thing I didn't like is that it allowed me to lose touch with new customers, by not having to process their order as far as setting up the site and what not, though it was nice to be out of that loop for a bit, I just didn't like losing touch with them.
