HHO - How long do you guys take to set up your new signups? We are trying to find a manageable solution to deal with the high volume of fraud out there. Do you use any anti fraud software?

Have to agree with freedomhost, use MaxMind. We also use the MaxMind phone verification as well. You will need to play around with the score settings to get a good balance, but basically anything that needs further verification would get an automated phone call which can help reduce the amount of time to setup an account.

We use Maxmind with WHMCS and when Maxmind returns an acceptable level, the setup is instant. Else we contact the client to solve the problem (or not, depending on the client).

As far as set-up is concerned it depends on the package a customer wishes to order. We set-up shared and reseller accounts in 45-60 min. max, for a VPS it takes approximately 4-5 hours and a dedicated server is delivered in 24-48 hours from the time of payment.

We too have been relying on Maxmind for Credit Card fraud detection. It is an ideal way of predicting if the customer is genuine or fraud.

Setup time depends on what the customer ordered, however most of our operation is automated from ordering to fulfillment.

I also recommend MaxMind for the anti-fraud. It seems to have worked well for us so far.

Our setup time depends on payment method and services ordered. If customer places his order via PayPal and does NOT want us to register a new domain name for him, order is activated almost instantly. If customer wants free domain name, it may take a few hours while sales manager approves his order (we use custom antifraud checks).

If payment is made using 2co (credit card), we activate order as soon as 2co sends us an email that order has completed fraud check successfully.

Depends on their client's fraud score, we use minfraud coupled with telephone verification of certain orders and proof of ID required on some orders.

If we get a 'clean' order through it is instant for Shared hosting and within the hour for VPS.

We use MaxMind, and many 90% of frauds has been cutted immediatelly. Others just cutted from 2Checkout!

Also, if you advert with coupon codes, you can find the fraud, usually coming from Advert site and not using the Coupon!

MaxMind here for us as well.

As for setup times - typically 1 hour for shared/reseller and 24-36 hours for dedicated boxes; obviously this time increases for outstanding payments which unfortunately does happen every now and again.

We use Maxmind and allow automatic setup on payment. From there, usually I check it within the next hour or so to make sure it is legit. But most of the time Maxmind catches it all, and within the hour I can catch any extra fraud.

MaxMind and manual phone verification if things seem fishy.

Maxmind catches 95%+ of the fraud we see come through before it even allows them to pay their invoice, which is a win as we not only don't have to deal with the chargebacks, but also don't hit with the processing fees for fraudulent orders.

Our provisioning is all manual, but we'll check an order to the nth degree if we think its suss, checking things like their email address, whether the address matches on google maps etc. On some orders we go as far as calling the customer if we think its borderline.
