You know the feeling when you get a new laptop? I forgot it (been so long since the last time I bought one, maybe 4-5 years). So I decided to go out and get me one, the cheapest they had (after rebates $750). Just something to take to school and surf forums from any room in the house (got the wireless network while I was at it).
Just a Toshiba Satellite 1415-S105 with Celeron 1.6Ghz, 20GB HDD, 256MB of RAM, 15" screen and DVD-ROM/CD-RW.
I'm just happy! :D :D :D New toys are always fun.
ah, yes, i know the feeling....
I got one too, but mine hurt the pocketbook a little bit more, but i figured since i was selling eggs on the side, i could afford it.
anyone seen my wallet lately?
We got a an iMAC in December of 2001 and I loved it -- but when we moved to the new house I had the bedroom and living room wired with network ports, so now I can actually use the laptop and love it even more :)
(we opted against wireless in the old house and this house, there is just something cooler about being able to say the house is wired :D).
I went with a toshiba 2.0 gig intel, etc and did the wireless thing. Got the router setup with 2 pc's wired and the laptop wireless for the beautiful days outside
hrm - I was planning on getting a Laptop this summer but my desktop I built the summer before last seems to have gone crazy... well, I know what the culprit is... the Alpha PAL3065 HSF, the arctic silver 3, and the cpu core doesn't seem to be getting along very well - so my CPU temp goes up to around 57C and crashes whenever I'm running some CPU intensive programs. Whenever I am doing that now, I have to take the side panel of the computer off and put one of my personal fans to the side and the highest the CPU temp goes is around 54C but at least it doesn't crash.
Now instead of a laptop - I'm planning on spending some cash on an Intel which won't have any heat problems even with a generic HSF, a new mobo, and some new RAM to fit the mobo.
And if I have some more money left, I'd invest in a laptop since my school's campus is powered with wireless networking :P
Every now and then, there are some extremely good deals on Dell laptops if you use coupons and rebates etc on them to get them down to the 600$ range - I am probably going to take one of those deals one of these days.
hrm... the latest toy I got was... hrmmm... well, my digital camera last year and my Logitech Z560s.
other then that, I haven't had that feeling you're having much lately *sigh*
:o:
oh well -
anyone check out the sony clic?

New toys are always cool, expecially if others in the house don't touch em because they are extremely-carefull not to break it.. hence giving you more time to play with them ;)
I went to a client's office and sat my laptop case in a chair. Turned my back and the case came tumbling down. :(
Dented the corner of it a little, mainly just a scuff but it is sad to have my first ding on my laptop due to faulty chairs. In fact, we have a suit against the chair company filed yesterday.
