View Full Version : Deleting Messages Remotely

Some weirdness here, and I am curious as to whether or not anyone has ever heard of something like this.

Is it possible to delete a message remotely after it has been downloaded from the server? Roseanne got a couple of emails yesterday, I see where they were delivered on the server, she read them, but now she cannot find them.

I know you can issue "Recall" messages to Exchange servers, but as far as I know they cannot be retrieved from a remote server, and certainly not from the inbox of someone connected to the server.

I have also heard of messages that include timed instructions to remove themselves, but I thought that only worked on Outlook (she uses The BAT Mailer).

Any thoughts on this?

Unless the program that downloads the messages is set to either 1) keep a copy on the server or 2) remove a copy from the server have x days, I do not think it is possible to delete a message AFTER it has been downloaded.

That's what I thought too...but the messages are not in her inbox, and they are not in the trash....

She might be able to 'go back' on her local system and restore her computer to the time she did have the messages?
