I've been researching managed dedicated providers and feel that our best bet right now is to get a managed or semi-managed dedicated but still keep an eye on it ourselves.

I've looked at dozens of companies but have come back to DedicatedNow (http://www.dedicatednow.com/).

Has anyone here used them? Was/is your experience with them good or bad? Would you reccommend them?

I'm looking for a PIII or IV with dual 60GB or above IDE drives, 1 GB of RAM and a good bit of bandwidth. I am also cost consciense and can't pay rackspace rates... but if you have any other suggestions I'd welcome them as well.

Thanks,

Does anyone know what it means when they say that they are an "Exclusive" CPanel partner? I know what a CPanel partner is, but is there a difference between a partner and an exclusive partner?

Exclusive = For Marketing Purposes :)

Cpanel Partner = A partner NOC that gets CPanel licenses cheap.

The exclusive is the part I was curious about, and that's kind of what I figured :).

You'll have to hold off on DedicatedNow until March 1, as they're not taking new orders until then. Which is a good thing, because they need the time to regroup and restructure to improve their support and communication issues. Many of their customers are very unhappy at the moment, judging by their customer forums.

I have my opinions about their services, which are both negative and positive.
As with any other host, you will have good days, bad and those horrible days you wish would just go away.

The issues we all had recently was because they grew too fast, too much and were not ready for it. For me, the issues of downtime and network problems have been solved.
The issues of physical hardware is being worked on (I hope).

So to me, they are both good and bad. I know people who hate them, I know people who love them. It just depends on your own personal experience (which I hope will be pleasant).

the 'exclusive' part means they host cpanel/darkorb and get cpanel licenses at a very low price, hence they are able to offer them for $20/month.

as far as getting a server with them, give it a try. another possible solution is to get a server from a smaller company that colocates at nac and uses dcjn as well - you may get better service and definitely much better hardware, albeit at a higher cost.

The network is fast but their support is not.

5-6 hours. I don't usually need support, so maybe it was just a one-time.

5-6 hours, isn't horrible :) -- what do you consider to be a good response time?

I liked how they patched everyone's kernels free of charge a week ago. Very proactive.
