How many slots on your COD4 and Ventrilo server?

I would suggest (minimum) a dual core cpu and 4 gig of ram..

Personally I would think that is fine for a server and ventrilo, but you could probably fit two Cod4 servers on there without a problem.

Have you looked into any of the game server providers? I took a quick look and found quite a few that specialize in gaming servers. I asked around and you will want something like this, minimally: Pentium 4 3.0 GHz Dual Core 4GB RAM.

For hosting only 1 game server you don't need such a fast system. Do think about at least 2 GB of ram to have a stable machine and a dual core CPU (doesn't have to be that powerful).

Make sure your processor is 2.4 GHz or better or your server will pretty much die after a few hours. Also, if you want it to be online 24/7 make sure you have proper cooling. Best way to go is water-cooled but a decent fan should do!

Hmmm..Are you going to be hosting it in-house, or from a company? I would think that you would need at least a pentium d 925 dual core 3ghz, and 3-4gb ram.

You can check Serverpoint.com gaming server offers Pentium D 3.0Ghz
Two cores - as powerful as two processors
2GBs of RAM

In addition to what your OS consumes, you will need, for each instance of COD4:

1) 250MB RAM (It fluctuates between 180 to 250 depending on the map)
2) COD4, and the other versions, have a very low CPU usage, at least compared to games like Counter Strike Source. (20 full slots on a Dual Quad Clovertown 1.8 ghz might suck 1 to 3% cpu usage) So your looking at 8-24% if it were running on one core, just to give you an idea.
3) Slots are bandwidth dependent after the RAM and CPU req's are reached.

To summarize, I think you could easily run at least 1 COD4 Server with 32 slots on a P4D, 1 to 1.5 GB RAM (Depending on the OS) plus your Ventrilo. 10 MB uplink and your good to go. Considering that not all slots will be full at the same time, I dare to say you can run 2 servers easily on those specs.

I would Suggest a Core 2 duo, 2.0 ish 1-1.5gb ram will do the job perfectly
