how many posts do we have to have before we get suited with one of those?

It's currently 500, which I know can't come too soon as we've not been all that creative with the default names. Bleh.

Yeah 500 is high ... It takes time even to get 500 on WHT which is hugely active and always has lots of people to talk about...:P

Is it on WHT that posts to the lounge don't count toward your count?

Jan

That was the case for a while, but they count in all forums again. Three other forums that I know of don't count them in the lounge equivalent.

Hmm ... signed up over there since about a year ago, have been posting mostly in the Domain Names Forum (90% or so) and get 1,269 posts altogether. I guess I'm one of those forum junkies. :D

Well 500 posts is high, but customized titles are also a privilege. I don't think 500 posts is too high for customized titles.

I'm still trying to get my customized title at another hosting talk forum.

*ducks the rotten tomatoes*

Cheers
Jeff

I agree, and no not just because I'm over 500. I haven't changed the title yet either. But, I think 500 is just fine as like you said, it is a privilege. And those that just spam the forums to get there will be known. :)

It is a pretty good one - not as good as getting an extra post in by agreeing with you, but a pretty good attempt none-the-less.

I agree that his post was a very good attempt at increasing his post count. While it may not have been the best route to take, it achieved its desired affect.

500 seems to be a fir number to hit, for any one.
it just might take some longer as most, like myself, tend to lerk and read. picking up threads that would be benafical to myself.
alll tho i do find i am posting a LOT more here then over on WHT:)
as i like it here a LOT more.

Well I have another idea, how about this:

If you get 5000 posts, you get to send in a personalized smiley? Oh wait a minute, wasn't I already shot down for this idea in this post:

I agree ;)

But on a serious note, this concept may sound weird but its my thoughts...500 is a high number yes, but still not very high. What's the problem with this i hear you guys cry? Well basicalyl you got people who know or think they are close to 500 and just starting posting random nothings around the board to achieve this position. Whereas if you have it somewhere say 1000, 2500 or yes even 5000...you are not going to have some random putting 5000 notihngs around the baord...and if you do he/she is most probabyl going to be banned for flooding/spamming.

Yes i know you are all gonna moan at me for suggesting such a high amount before you get the privilege of a custom title...but hey listen to what i just said...PRIVILEGE OF A CUSTOMER TITLE.

Its meant to distinguish to great contributors from the people who just ocme here to advertise and not contribute at all. It distinguishes the highest contributors to community and those who have helped a fair bit to make this community to what it is.

It's not however imo something that just anyone should get when 500 is actually really nothing in terms of posts on a board. If all 100% of the posts were aiding other people etc then that may be fair, but honestly NOBODY on this board has 100% record of posting just to help other people.

Dont take this as a dig, just see my point on a high value for customer titles.

By the way...ok 5000 is too much but surely 2500 or 1000 even, isn't!

lol @ plotting.

For the record, I still stick by my thoughts of 1,000 or 2,500.
