So I'm i the backyard, for a few minutes, and come back in through the back door and notice that the front door is open a bit, and close it. Walk around a bit and it's too quiet, wife is in or bedroom, and I think to myself, "Hmmmmm, where's Nugget?"

Quick scan of the house (it isn't really that big and you can check all rooms fairly quickly) reveals that Nugget is no where to be found.

So I open the front door and look right, take a few more steps and look left, and there's Nugget running down the sidewalk, about 3 houses away, towards the intersection and gas station on the corner.

So I run like a Olympic sprinter to get him, nearly having a heart attack (not from running), and drag him back to the house.

Grrrrrrr.....

We were soon to leave for a wedding brunch, and as our other friends got there, I noticed something smelled like it was burning...

Apparently the Nugget turned on the oven and then headed out the door! Yikes!

Top it off, I have a hangover form the wedding last night :(

So, are you saying that your son tried to blow up your house and escape :D? If I were you I would hire a P.I. to make sure he has not taken out any new insurance policies on you and your wife :D.

It sounds like your Nugget is a pretty smart kid -- for better or worse.

wait... that sounds a lot like what I did... i mean... yea! smart kid that is...

I'd keep a third eye on him for couple of years Chicken... its the teenage years when he should start brightening up from doing... unusual stuff like that.

you know what you need....

you should get one of those playpen things...not the small ones, but the big ones you see at a circus, where he can jump up and down on an air mat and dive into a pit of plastic balls....

i always find that to be very relieving..

You kidding???? That's when you REALLY need eyes in the back of your head :fork:

Sounds like you need to childproof your home Chicken :p: (that helps when the Nugget is a teenager too :D )

I'd put the little guy under house arrest. (Can you say "leg irons"?) As for you, O Beaked One, perhaps a little hair of the dog? :D

Yes, he's OK (thank goodness). And yes, we need to Nuggetproof the house, which is very unNuggetproof at the moment. We need to get a new gate for the dining room to cut off his access to the kitchen, and put all those little outlet covers in.

Today, we're off (again, hopefully for the last time), to get a couch. We really need a couch! I'm sick of sitting on the folding chairs (the ones that are frames with fabric on them that fold into a bag).

Don't get the cheap outlet covers (the little plastic ones that you just plug in). Supposidly when I was a young'in'er (lol), I stuck two paper clips into the wall and made them arc, don't ask how I did it but ya.

That's shocking! :yikes:

OK, bad joke, but ummm... errr... but I did, "get the cheap outlet covers (the little plastic ones that you just plug in)." The wife has trouble getting them off so at least she'll be protected. Which outlet covers (aside form the little plastic ones that you just plug in) would you suggest?

Let me see if I can find them online, but the like mounted on the thing (with like double sided tape pretty easy to take off)

http://www.safety-first.biz/cpwoc.htm is one those look kind of cheap. Pretty hard for little tikes to get into. Wouldn't buy them there though.

Gerber Outlet Box Cover - The Gerber Outlet Box Cover has 2 cover flaps that snaps over each plug. Available in white only.

That's what we had work pretty well a bit expensive at like $2.99 each. Goto walmart or whatever I'm sure you can find them cheaper there. The ones that just plug in are pretty easy to take out..

I take it the nugget can open doors then? I would recommend that you get some of them door handle things, they clip on the handle but they just spin if you turn them so to open the door you have to push in on the two rubber buttons then it turns. My brother uses them for his kids and they work great.

Good to hear the nugget's safe. :)
