Hosting outages are constantly happening, most of these are too small to be reported on places like nanog, but they can still impact 1000s of people.
Do you think it would be a worthwhile venture to set up an outage clearinghouse type mailing list focusing specifically on hosting?
I am thinking the list could be tightly moderated, so it would have a very high s/n ratio. It would be more effective than forums because there wouldn't be 1000 people asking the same questions and mail is more resiliant than the web.
The big drawback would be: could the list attract enough hosting company owners who could actually provide information?
