OK... presume I am dumb and should not be admisinstrating servers!!

But I just got new servers with Plesk 5 and something is not right. I set up modernbill to automatically set up the domains (pat myself on the back as that was a nightmare!)

So when I got he server, the hosting company told me the primary host name was ns.beachmountain.net and the secondary hostname was ns1.beachmountain.net

I then created a virtual name based domain on th Plesk interface called beachmountain.net with physical hosting using ip. 69.0.209.114

I then went to my registrar and pointed the domain name to
beachmountain.net using primary and secondary name servers
ns.beachmountain.net > ip. 69.0.209.114
ns1.beachmountain.net > ip. 69.0.210.9

24 Hours later, I get the home page for beachmountain.net on my new server..... all works fine...

I then registered new domain names using the same primary and secondary name servers and ips as above... ANd I set up vitrual name based hosting for the domains > physical hosting > ip. 69.0.209.114

eg. domain villamontagne.com

24 hours later the domain points to the right server OK... but we get the default Plesk page....

DNS zone for domain villamontagne. com
DNS zone status.
DNS zone has master DNS server type.
Select new DNS record type

Record type:
_villamontagne. com. NS _ns. villamontagne. com.
_ns. villamontagne. com. A _69. 0. 209. 114
_villamontagne. com. A _69. 0. 209. 114
_ftp. villamontagne. com. CNAME _villamontagne. com.
_mail. villamontagne. com. CNAME _villamontagne. com.
_www. villamontagne. com. CNAME _villamontagne. com.
_villamontagne. com. MX 10 _mail. villamontagne. com.
_69. 0. 209. 114/24 PTR _villamontagne. com.

Where have I gone wrong? I thought this is how I did on my other contrm panels....

Like I said I shouldn't be doing this:baghead:

Hmmm, well in the Plesk cp, villamontagne.com is set to use the 69.0.209.114 IP? It is hitting that IP fine, but it's not doing anything with it (as you said).

Thanks for looking at this... Yep, Plesk is not serving up the pages for that or other domains, except for the domain with the same name as the nameserver ns.beachmountain.com at the same ip.

OOOh, I fixed it

There was a duff ns entry in (my duff entry):

DNS zone for domain beachmountain.
net DNS zone status.
DNS zone has master DNS server type.
Select new DNS record type

Record type:
_beachmountain. net. NS _ns. beachmountain. net.
ns.beachmountain. net. NS _ns. beachmountain. net
_beachmountain. net. A _69. 0. 209. 114
_ns. beachmountain. net. A _69. 0. 209. 114
_ns1. beachmountain. net. A _69. 0. 210. 9
_ftp. beachmountain. net. CNAME _beachmountain. net.
_mail. beachmountain. net. CNAME _beachmountain. net.
_www. beachmountain. net. CNAME _beachmountain. net.
_beachmountain. net. MX 10 _mail. beachmountain. net.
_69. 0. 209. 114/24 PTR _beachmountain. net.

I removed the line:
ns.beachmountain. net. NS _ns. beachmountain. net
which I have no idea why or how I put it there????? But can only blame myself....

I guess Iwas trying to put in the second name server info and ip.

Any way removing it and the sites come up. Told you I shouldn't be doing this....
