Web surfing, e-mailing, instant messaging, gaming, shopping, downloading music and visiting chat rooms become troublesome when they interfere with someone's job or social life, said Dr. Nathan Shapira of UF's Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute.

Well, what does he know... I know I'm addicted so they don't need to do any scientific study on me to figure that one out. How about everyone else? Are you a web addict?

I am very web addict. Some people consider a break by sitting down and drinking a beer, I consider a break by sitting down and checking my mail.

When I go on vacation, I replan weeks ahead of time how I will be able to check my mail periodically and when we arrive at the hotel, the first thing I do is setup my laptop. I also make sure the hotel has high-speed internet and how much it costs.

I'm currently looking into switching out my TDMA V60i Cell phone for a GSM phone so I can easily connect to the Internet. I wish The 3d phones would come out to the U.S. Already!

hehehe... I think if I ever brought my laptop on a family vacation I'd be going straight to divorce court after the trip was over. I can take a break for a week or so but you better believe I'm back online before I get the chance to unpack. :(

Me too Mark. It is perfectly clear that when we go away, even for the weekend computers are off limit. Last weekend I stayed at a hotel, resort and spa in Scottsdale that had T-1 hookups in the rooms. I got the look for even mentioning it.

See.. I only surf the net in a hotel when when get BACK from our "vacation time" during the day. So I spend about an hour on the net before I go to sleep, wake up early surf the net while my parents take a shower and get dress.

I once told my wife that I had to take my laptop on a family vacation because I had too much work to do. I had to convince her I was joking. Even then, I think I stopped using the computer an extra day earlier before the trip just to make up for the joke.

3d phones? 3 dimensional ones? I thought we're using those already....:p:

I know I know, you either made a typo or something....:)

You meant 3G yes?

Anyways, I think those who frequent forums often are web addicts. I mean how can you not be? If you make it a point to come here at least once? :)

I spend way too much time on my computer, but I'm always working. I do spend too much time on forums... but it's usually becuase I have something else I need to be working on and just don't want to :)

My wife is convinced that I am addicted, and I catch hell for spending to much time on the net. I do however have to take my laptop with me on vacation, but mostly because I am the only one running my small web hosting operation. So I need to be able to get into things if need be. But I don't do anything with it until after we are back from the days vacationing, hell I still haven't checked on getting connected to the internet from the hotel yet, just been lazy about it.

Very addicted. Vacation requires high-speed Internet with cell phone for times when on the road. There is nothing like driving up Interstate 95, connected to the Internet over cell phone.

It is not high-speed, but better than waiting hours to get home or to the hotel.

In high school on a FBLA (phi beta lamba) trip, It was at the Hilton. I paid 7 dollars for 10 minutes of internet access on a buggy Windows 98 dialup to check if my server was up ;o

I usually refer to people writing such articles as 'no-web addicts' .. I mean, is there an option of not being online 'more then 30 hours a week'? (techniclty with my cable I am on 24/7, but that was no option on the CNN site ;))
